The present invention is directed to an isolated synthetic tripeptide of formula H-D-Phe-N-Methyl-L-Val-L-Ala-OMe (SEQ ID NO: 1), or a derivative thereof, and to the corresponding lipotripeptides, which are specific tosubsp.(Map) S-type strain, as well as derivatives and conjugates thereof. The invention also concerns the use of these antigens in different methods and tests for detecting Map infection, especially by detecting humoral response and cell mediated response of infected animals. The invention is also directed to a genetic signature of Map and a mass spectrometry and NMR spectroscopy signature of Map presence or infection.

Antigenic tripeptides derived fromsubsp.s-type strains, derivatives and uses thereof

The current invention relates to the diagnosis and treatment of diseases resulting from infections bysubsp.. In particular the invention relates to the use of an antigen selected among (a) a synthetic peptide 5P having the following formula: DPhe-NMeVal-Ile-Phe-Ala-OMe (SEQ ID NO: 1); (b) a lipopeptide L5P consisting of the synthetic peptide a) wherein the N-terminal phenylalanine residue is N-acylated with an eicosanoic acid acyl chain; (c) a variant of peptide a) or lipopeptide b) able to react with anti-antibodies; for in vitro detection or quantification of specific anti-antibodies in a biological sample.
