An air drying auto-oxidizable resin composition comprising components: a) a drier comprising a manganese salt complex, and b) a polymer comprising unsaturated fatty acid residues, wherein the manganese salt complex has the following structure I: wherein the anion is selected from Cl, NOor RCOO, in which case n=2; or the anion is SO, in which case n=1; wherein X,Y,Z are independently selected from O, OH, OH, OC(R)O, and RBOand wherein a and b are independently an integer of value 2, 3 or 4; R&#x2550;H, C1-C20 alkyl optionally substituted with heteroatoms, C6-C20 aryl optionally substituted with heteroatoms; R=C1-C20 alkyl optionally substituted with heteroatoms, C6-C20 aryl optionally substituted with heteroatoms, or a polymeric residue; and R=C1-C20 alkyl optionally substituted with heteroatoms, C6-C20 aryl optionally substituted with heteroatoms, or a polymeric residue. Manganese salt complex as drier for coating compositions

An air drying auto-oxidizable resin composition comprising components: a) a drier comprising a manganese carboxylate complex, and b) a polymer comprising unsaturated fatty acid residues, wherein the manganese carboxylate complex a) has the following structure I: wherein R&#x2550;H, C1-C20 alkyl optionally substituted with heteroatoms, or C6-C20 aryl optionally substituted with heteroatoms; X and Y are independently selected from O and OC(R)O, in which a=4 when X&#x2550;O, and a=3 when X&#x2550;OC(R)O, and in which b=4 when Y&#x2550;O, and b=3 when Y&#x2550;OC(R)O; R=C1-C20 alkyl optionally substituted with heteroatoms, C6-C20 aryl optionally substituted with heteroatoms, or a polymeric residue; and R&#x2550;C1-C20 alkyl optionally substituted with heteroatoms, C6-C20 aryl optionally substituted with heteroatoms, or a polymeric residue. 

Manganese complex as drier for coating compositions

An aqueous coating composition comprising an autoxidizable polyester resin having &#x2267;30 wt % of fatty acid residues; a Tg in the range of from &#x2212;60&#xb0; C. to +35&#xb0; C.; an acid value greater than 15 mg KOH/g and less than 75 mg KOH/g; a Mw in the range of from 2,500 to 100,000 g/mol; the composition having a co-solvent content less that 15 wt % by weight of total composition; a solids content &#x3e;30 wt %; and when in the form of a film, the composition has a telegraphing value of less than 20 gloss units.

Aqueous autoxidisable coating composition

An aqueous coating composition comprising an autoxidizable fatty acid modified polyester resin having &#x2267;40 wt % of fatty acid residues; a Tg in the range of from &#x2212;70 to +20&#xb0; C.; an acid value less than 40 mg KOH/g; a Mw in the range of from 5,000 to 125,000 g/mol; &#x3e;5 wt % of ring structures; and the composition having a co-solvent content less than 20 wt % by weight of solids; a solids content &#x3e;38 wt %; and when in the form of the film having a telegraphing value of less than 35 gloss units.

Aqueous emulsion coating composition comprising an autoxidisable fatty acid modified polyester

An aqueous coating composition comprising an autoxidisable amide group containing resin having &#x2267;30 wt % of fatty acid residues by weight of autoxidisable amide group containing resin; a Tg in the range of from &#x2212;40 to +35&#xb0; C.; ND&#xd7;AV&#x2266;22 mg KOH/g; a Mw in the range of from 2,500 to 20,000 g/mol; a PDi less than 10; an amide group content of at least 10 mmoles/100 g solid; and said composition having: a co-solvent content less that 25 wt %; a N-methylpyrrolidone content &#x3c;13 wt % by weight of solids; a solids content &#x3e;38 wt %; and when a film, a telegraphing value of less than 20 gloss units.
