A multi-band antenna with a radiator element located between a ring element with a feed leg and at least one ground leg, and a ground plane. The radiator element may be arranged in a substantially parallel orientation with and electrically isolated from the ring element and the ground plane. The antenna elements may be dimensioned for reception of AMPS, UMTS, PCS and SDAR frequency bands. Further, the antenna may include a GPS module.

Multi-band antenna

A watertight antenna assembly adapted for mounting on a mounting surface includes a sealing gasket having a body portion and a peripheral edge, and a continuous sidewall formed with the peripheral edge. A radome is releasably mounted to the sealing gasket forming a cavity therebetween. The sealing gasket includes a sealing projection that extends continuously along an inside portion of the sidewall and is configured to abut the radome to form a seal. A downwardly depending lip is formed of deformable material and extending continuously along a bottom portion of the sidewall. When the sealing gasket is compressed against the mounting surface, the lip sealingly deforms against the mounting surface forming a watertight seal therebetween so as to prevent ingress of water into the cavity.

Termination and junction assemblies for flat strip transmission line links are shown to include a protective cover, an electrically conductive ground sleeve, a spring signal contact and a double-sided adhesive pad. A flat strip transmission line link is inserted into the ground sleeve until the contact is applied to the signal conducting strip of the link. At that time, the ground sleeve is in electrical communication with the primary signal ground carrier and the ground conducting strips of the flat strip link. The termination assemblies further include a coaxial cable receptacle that receives a coaxial cable transmission line link to establish electrical communication between its inner conductor and the contact and between its outer conductor and the ground sleeve. On the other hand, a second flat strip link is inserted into the ground sleeve of the junctions until the contact establishes a pressure contact with the signal conducting strip of the second flat strip link to establish electrical communication between the signal conducting strips of the two links and the ground strips of those links. In either case, the cover is snap-fitted to the ground sleeve and the double-sided adhesive pad is mounted to the sleeve to permit the assembly to be mounted to its installation site.

Transmission line terminations and junctions

The present invention is directed to a dual band, omni-directional antenna having a symmetrical radiating structure defined by a pair of conductive portions interconnected by a tuning bridge formed on a printed circuit board. An outer housing holds the circuit board in place. An adhesive layer is used to secure the antenna to a dielectric, such as the rear window of an automobile. The antenna housing incudes an outer surface includes a plurality of surface interruptions in the form of ridges and valleys that render the housing flexible so that it may conform to the shape of different mounting surfaces. The tuning bridge of the antenna permits tuning of the resonant frequency bands for the radiating structure to define two separate and distinct, selectable frequency bands.

A multiple use, multi-band antenna for mobile wireless communication and global positioning has includes a elongated cellular radiating element and a GPS radiating element supported atop the cellular radiating element. The cellular radiating element has a continuous body portion of varying diameter that forms a flared upper portion which supports a global positioning system amplifier mounted thereon. The GPS amplifier unit takes the form of a GPS patch radiator disposed atop a low noise amplifier. The cellular and GPS radiating elements are fed by respective first and second feedlines. The stacking of the GPS amplifier unit on the cellular radiating element provides a top loading effect for the cellular radiating element that enables it to resonate across all pertinent cellular frequencies.

An improved cigarette lighter adapter for an electronic device has an exterior flexible covering that provides a textured surface for gripping by the user to facilitate the insertion and removal of the adapter from a cigarette lighter socket. The adapted also includes a pair of ground contacts in the form of spring members that abut ground contact pads on an internal circuit board. The ground contacts are biased in place within the adapter against the circuit board contact pads in a solderless manner. The assembly permits a user to manually access the manual test pin of the telephone body portion from the exterior without necessitating removal of the battery module from the cellular telephone body portion. An adapter assembly is provided for adapting a portable cellular telephone to receive an external replacement antenna or an external direct feed connection by replacing the internal antenna connection of the cellular telephone. The adapter assembly includes a body portion with an antenna-receiving bore, a telephone chassis contact portion at the other end a circuit board interposed between the body and contact portion which spaces them apart and interconnects them together. The circuit board has circuitry thereon which transposes the connections effected thereby between coaxial conductors of the assembly body and contact portions.
