A test suite is executed to test a computer program for a plurality of variables. A variable value is generated for each variable of the plurality of variables at a predetermined location of the computer program. Whether a test included in the test suite is successful is determined. If the test is successful, the variable value is recorded as part of a success value set. If the test is not successful, the variable value is recorded as part of a failure value set. A confidence metric is calculated for the variable value. A relevance metric for each variable of the plurality of variables is measured, based on a Jaccard distance between the success value set and the failure value set. The failure value set, the success value set, the confidence metric for the variable value, and the relevance metric for each variable of the plurality of variables are presented.

Identifying incorrect variable values in software testing and development environments

A computer-implemented method includes generating static analysis data by performing static analysis on a program. A breakpoint is set in the program automatically, by a computer processor, based on the static analysis data. The breakpoint is hit during a runtime of the program. A program bug is automatically identified at a context location of the breakpoint when the breakpoint is hit during the runtime of the program. An interactive debugging session of the program is launched automatically at the context location of the breakpoint, based on the identifying the program bug.

Automated debugging with combined static and dynamic analysis

According to one or more embodiments a computer-implemented method includes detecting, by a processor, an instruction to capture runtime data of a set of instructions in a computer program, the instruction detected based on a hook associated with the set of instructions. The method further includes determining whether the hook is an active expiring hook. The method further includes in response to the hook being an active expiring hook, determining a time condition associated with the expiring hook. The method further includes in response to the time condition being met, capturing the runtime data of the set of instructions in the computer program.

Expiring hooks for computer application discovery

A computer program product is disclosed. The computer program product includes a computer useable medium having a computer readable program. The computer readable program when executed on a computer causes the computer to receive user specific data for a debugging session. The user specific data includes a location for an input/output device. Further, the computer readable program when executed on the computer causes the computer to initiate a debugging session at the input/output device specified at the location in the user specific data.

Method and system that provides an interactive debugging session

An executing computer program is debugged by the use of an events table comprising a plurality of table entries, each table entry comprising an event description describing an event occurring during execution of the executing computer program; a debugger description specifying a debugger to be invoked to debug the executing computer program upon an occurrence of the event; and debugger options to be passed to the debugger upon invocation of the debugger. Debugging the executing computer program comprises monitoring for the event; detecting the event; gathering event information beyond the event description; searching the event table responsive to the detection of the event; finding the table entry corresponding the event; responsive to the finding of the table entry, invoking the debugger specified by the debugger description in the table entry corresponding the event; passing the debugger options to the debugger; and passing the event information to the debugger. A first table entry may be used to invoke a first debugger responsive to a first event, and a second table entry may be used to invoke a second debugger responsive to a second event.
