Wanted vehicles (e.g., stolen or the subjects of AMBER alerts) may respond to receipt of broadcast messages identifying the vehicle by vehicle identification number, license plate number, or other identifier (if programmed into the car). The identifier may be broadcast over any public radio station as an embedded digital message, transmitted from police or fire broadcast stations, transmitted from wireless mobility towers, or the like.

Improved network event tagging for mobile communications is described herein. By way of example, a mobile network can be configured to take periodic geographic positions of a mobile terminal operating within the mobile network. Network events occurring between the periodic geographic positions, otherwise partially unknown in position, can be estimated by referencing topographical information and estimating a route of travel of the mobile device. Estimated speed of the mobile device can be utilized to place the mobile device on a road network, cycling route, pedestrian walkway, or the like, and refine the estimated position of the mobile device at the time of the network event. Such estimates can be refined from traffic information or other real-time travel data. An estimated position of the mobile device can be output as an approximation of the network event to facilitate event modeling for the mobile network.

Event tagging for mobile networks

A device for processing alarms includes a processor and a computer-readable medium storing instructions which, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to perform various operations. The operations include receiving a first alarm from a first diagnostic device and determining a location associated with a first user. When the location associated with the first user is determined to be proximate to a device, the operations further include presenting a first verbal alert indicating that the first diagnostic device is presenting the first alarm. When the location associated with the first user is determined to be not proximate to the device, the operations further include sending a first notification message to a first mobile device of the first user indicating that the first diagnostic device is presenting the first alarm.

Methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture are disclosed. An example method includes attempting to establish a remote communication path to a wireless network from a proxy, the proxy physically attached to a balloon. A determination is made as to whether an emergency procedure is to be performed. In response to a first determination that the remote communication path is established and that the emergency procedure is to be performed, a current location of the proxy is determined, and the current location of the proxy is transmitted to an emergency server.

Methods and apparatus to provide a communication service in a remote location

A handset agent calibration solution is provided that uses the GPS receivers on mobile devices to determine a location of the mobile device to calibrate timing based locating systems. The handset agent can be installed on the mobile device and can upload to an internet server the coordinates captured by the GPS receiver along with the observed time differences. The observed time differences and the location of the mobile device can be used to solve for reference time differences to calibrate unsynchronized macrocells. The reference time difference can be used to solve for the location of other mobile devices if the observed time differences between that mobile device and the macrocells are known. The solution can include receiving measurement reports from many mobile devices to obtain averaged observed time differences at a reference location to achieve more accurate reference time differences.

A radio repeater system is described that disables itself to avoid interfering with mobile network performed multilateration of mobile devices. The radio repeater provides additional network coverage for a localized area. The localized area can include enclosed spaces such as buildings or transportation terminals. The radio repeater system can monitor the signals received from cell towers, and if there are at least three signals of a predetermined signal strength, the radio repeater can disable itself to avoid interfering with mobile locating performed by the network. The radio repeater can remain disabled until the conditions that led to the disabling have passed.

Providing for improved network event tagging for mobile communications is described herein. Adaptive calibration of measurements for a wireless radio network is described. A network location system can employ timed fingerprint location technology to determine location information for UEs in a NELOS enabled wireless network environment. Calibration of observed time measurements can reduce errors in determining location information. Adaptive calibration facilitates the selection of subsets of wireless network radios for calibration updates. The selection of wireless network radios comprising the subsets can be based on prioritization rules including prioritization based on historical calibration information, geographic information, or observation density information for a wireless network radio. Further, a wireless network radio can be deprioritized based on the availability of alternate location information related to the wireless network radio.
