Printers and cleaning systems are provided. A cleaning system has an actuator that moves the electrostatic imaging member in a second direction opposite the first direction and a frame positions a mounting within a first range of mounting distances from the electrostatic imaging member with the mounting holding a cleaning blade at a holding angle that causes a free length of the cleaning blade to extend along a first direction to position a cleaning end of the cleaning blade to engage the electrostatic imaging member for movement therewith. The electrostatic imaging member urges the cleaning end in the second direction to deflect the cleaning blade to extend along the second direction to position the cleaning end to wipe the electrostatic imaging member and the free length, the holding angle and the working angle cause the cleaning edge to wipe at a working angle between about 85 and 89 degrees.

Electrophotographic printer and transitional cleaning system

A cleaning system has a composite photoreceptive imaging member having a support layer, an electrically conductive layer interfacing with the support layer, a photoconductive charge generation layer interfacing with the electrically conductive layer and generating charge holes and electrons in response to exposure to electromagnetic radiation; a charge transport layer that allows charge holes to migrate from the charge generation layer to the outer surface while resisting migration of electrons from the charge generation layer to the outer surface and a cleaning blade member having a cleaning surface layer against the electrostatic surface to at least in part remove toner and debris from the outer surface. The cleaning surface layer has a first material and a second material that are combined in proportions that cause a triboelectric charge to be formed on the outer surface having a difference of potential of between zero and minus 20 volts.

A cleaning blade member includes a polymer substrate and an outermost layer consisting essentially of a non-particulate, non-elastomeric ceramer or fluoroceramer and nanosized inorganic particles that are distributed within the non-particulate ceramer or fluoroceramer in an amount of at least 5 weight % and up to and including 50 weight % of the outermost layer. These cleaning blade members can be used to advantage in apparatus for providing electrophotographic or electrostatographic images.

An auger transports waste toner or developer from the collection tube through a transport tube to a waste container. An elbow of the spring rides on the auger and the motion of the auger causes the spring to oscillate in the collection tube.

A method for forming a receiver transport member for an electrostatographic reproduction apparatus. The transport member transports receiver members with respect to a fuser assembly and is frictional coupled to a transfer member for driving the transfer member. The method for forming the transport member provides a substrate bearing a high friction layer that includes inorganic particles, with a compound of aluminum selected from the group consisting of aluminum hydroxide, alumina hydrate, aluminum oxide, pseudo-boehmite, boehmite alumina, aluminum salts, and mixtures thereof, dispersed in an organic binder so that the high friction layer is capable of preventing a loss of frictional coupling due to release oil applied to a receiver member bearing a fused toner image.

In an apparatus for cleaning particulates from a moving web, a dust seal blade assembly which is easily mounted to a cleaning blade to reduce internal dusting in a cleaner apparatus and for trapping of lint, paper dust, or fibrous material and which might also reduce the effects of oil contamination. The arrangement provides a low-cost, operator-replaceable cartridge having one or more wiper blades with at least one of them having the dust seal blade assembly and enclosed within a particle sump assembly that is easily removed from association with the web being cleaned.

A cleaning station for removing particulate material from a moving web in an electrostatic printer/copier includes a customer-replaceable web-cleaning cartridge and a support bracket/backup shoe assembly. Preferably, a bracket that supports the cleaning cartridge is pivotally connected to a backup shoe that is fixed with respect to the web path and exerts a uniform pressure on the rear surface of the web, opposite that contacted by the cleaning cartridge. A quick disconnect feature enables the cartridge-supporting bracket to be de-coupled from the back-up shoe and removed from the instrument.

The cleaning assembly has a casing, a plurality of rotating components within the casing and a plurality of sealing devices that divide the casing into a scavenging zone and a detoning zone. Apparatus for cleaning particulate material from the surface of a moving web comprises: (i) a customer-replaceable cleaning cartridge including a pair of spaced, parallel cleaning blades supported by a sump housing having a removable lid assembly with a narrow opening through which the blades project at an angle; (ii) a backup shoe assembly positioned to contact the web surface opposite the cleaning blades and provide resistance to the cleaning blades; and (iii) a bracket assembly for releasably supporting the cleaning cartridge in an operative position in which the cleaning blades contact the web surface to be cleaned and cooperate with the shoe assembly to wipe particulate material from the web. Preferably, the lid assembly comprises a lid member that supports a flexible seal blade that contacts the web surface upstream of the cleaning blades and deflects particulate material wiped from the web by the cleaning blades into the sump housing. Preferably, the lid member defines an external cavity that serves as a reservoir for receiving particles inadvertently wiped from the web by the seal blade.
