A system and method is provided for controlling operating of an engine having a turbocharger with a compressor and an exhaust turbine, wherein the compressor is configured to provide a boost pressure and operate stably in a stable operating range between a surge line and a choke line of a compressor map. A controller is configured to control an actuator to cause an operating point of the compressor to move along a predetermined path within a corridor along a safety zone in the compressor map. The safety zone extends along the surge line. The safety zone is selected to provide a distance between the surge line and the corridor that minimizes a reduction of the boost pressure such that a sufficient boost pressure is available after the network fault.

Internal combustion engine

A genset including at least one generator for generating electrical energy, which can be driven by a drive device is provided. Also provided is a detection device for detection of the presence of a grid fault in at least one phase of the power grid, a device for determining an operating state of the generator immediately before or upon detection of a grid fault, and a regulating device, to which the signals of the detection device and the device for determining an operating state of the generator can be fed. The regulating device is designed upon detection of a grid fault to reduce the power of the drive device in dependence of that operating state of the generator, which has been determined immediately before or upon detection of the grid fault.

Genset

A method of operating an arrangement includes using a rotating drive machine, wherein a value characteristic of a change of a power output of the arrangement is provided by measuring at least one parameter and/or calculation. The rotating drive machine is open and/or closed loop controlled depending on the value characteristic of the change of the power output of the arrangement and/or a load of the rotating drive machine is changed depending on the value characteristic of the change of the power output of the arrangement, such that the change of the power output of the arrangement is substantially compensated.

Arrangement with rotating drive machine and operating method

In a method of starting an internal combustion engine having a plurality of piston-cylinder units wherein there are dead volumes upstream of the piston-cylinder units, wherein upon an attempt at starting the internal combustion engine, the pistons are driven in the cylinders by an auxiliary motor. The maximum permissible duration of a starting attempt is restricted by a predetermined starting time (t) of the internal combustion engine. The starting time (t) is calculated and predetermined prior to or at the beginning of a starting attempt of the internal combustion engine depending on a state of the internal combustion engine and/or the auxiliary motor.

Method of starting an internal combustion engine

An internal combustion engine including a pre-chamber connected to a pre-chamber feed conduit for supplying the pre-chamber with a fuel (F), and a main combustion chamber. Fuel (F) in the main combustion chamber can be ignited by an ignition flare which passes from the at least one pre-chamber into the at least one main combustion chamber and which is produced by ignition of fuel (F) in the pre-chamber. At least one valve can be open-loop or closed-loop controlled by an open-loop or closed-loop control device depending on a parameter characteristic of a change in a power produced by the internal combustion engine, and/or by which a pre-chamber fuel flow directed through the pre-chamber feed conduit to the at least one pre-chamber can be at least partially diverted into a volume separate from the at least one pre-chamber.
