A latch includes a housing, a fork bolt, and a detent lever. The fork bolt is coupled to the housing and is movable between an unlatched position, a primary latched position, and a secondary latched position. The detent lever is operably coupled to the housing and is arranged to cooperate with the fork bolt. A drive link is operatively connected to the fork bolt and to the detent lever. The drive link is movable in a first direction to engage the detent lever to open the latch and is movable in a second direction to engage the fork bolt to cinch the latch.

A vehicle door latch assembly is disclosed herein, having: a fork bolt movably secured to the latch assembly; a detent lever movably secured to the latch assembly, the detent lever being capable of movement between an engaged position and a disengaged position, the detent lever retains the fork bolt in a latched position when the detent lever is in the engaged position and an engagement surface of the detent lever contacts an engagement surface of the fork bolt; an inertia block out assembly for preventing the detent lever from moving into the disengaged position when the inertia block out assembly is in a blocking position; and a manual override mechanism for the inertia block out assembly, wherein the manual override mechanism requires at least three independent actions to be performed to move the inertia block out assembly from the blocking position to an unblocking position.

A latch is provided including a fork bolt configured to rotate between an unlatched position and a latched position. A bellcrank lever is operably coupled to the fork bolt via a detent lever. The bellcrank lever has an engagement ledge located adjacent a slot of the bellcrank lever. The engagement shelf prevents movement of a gear configured to move the detent lever via movement of the bellcrank lever.

Apparatus and method for preventing movement of release mechanism of a vehicle latch

A latch including a locking lever pivotally mounted to the latch. The latch also including an intermittent lever pivotally coupled to the locking lever at a first end, wherein movement of the locking lever causes a movement of the intermittent lever. A gear is pivotally coupled to a second end of the locking lever such that rotation of the gear causes movement of the locking lever. The locking lever is formed from a resilient material and has an area of reduced thickness reproducing a spring effect. A vehicle door latch assembly is disclosed herein, the vehicle door latch assembly having: a fork bolt movably secured to the latch assembly, the fork bolt being capable of movement between a latched position and an unlatched position; a detent lever movably secured to the latch assembly, the detent lever being capable of movement between an engaged position and a disengaged position, the detent lever retains the fork bolt in the latched position when the detent lever is in the engaged position and a engagement surface of the detent lever contacts an engagement surface of the fork bolt; and an actuator for moving the detent lever into the disengaged position from the engaged position, the actuator being configured to prevent the detent lever from moving back to the engaged position until the fork bolt has been moved to the unlatched position.

A latch is provided, the latch having: a fork bolt that moves between an unlatched position and a latched position; a first detent lever that that cooperates with the fork bolt and moves between an engaged position and a disengaged position; a hold open lever for biasing against the first detent lever when the first detent lever is in the released position; and a single switch that is activated only when the first detent lever is moved from the engaged position towards the disengaged position and when the fork bolt moves from the unlatched position towards the latched position, wherein the latch does not have any other switches.
