A method comprising positioning, in a narrow vertical elongated space, an apparatus comprising a vertical guide track supporting a vertically displaceable carriage, said carriage having means to apply a coating to one of the said walls; securing the guide track against movement in the narrow vertical elongated space; moving the carriage vertically on the guide track while applying a coating from the carriage to one of the said walls as a vertical band; moving the guide track adjacent an area of the same wall which has not been so coated and again securing the guide track; moving the carriage vertically on the guide track while applying a coating from the carriage to the same wall as a vertical band; and repeating the described application of coating bands until a substantial portion of the wall is coated.

Method of coating the walls of narrow vertical elongated spaces

Apparatus for applying a coating to the exterior surface of a double curved shell which is circular in horizontal section comprising a guide track, having top and bottom ends, adapted to be vertically positioned outwardly from the shell and when so positioned having a contour generally like that of the double curved shell; apparatus at the guide track top and bottom ends for rotating the guide track around the shell about a substantially vertical axis; a carriage mounted on, and movable along a substantial length of, the guide track from which a coating can be applied to the shell; and drive apparatus cooperating with the guide track for driving the guide track around the shell. A method is also disclosed in which the apparatus is used to apply a series of horizontal circular coating bands on the shell.

Apparatus for applying a coating to one of two walls forming a narrow vertical elongated space comprising a vertical guide track supporting a vertically displaceable carriage thereon adapted to removably fit in the said narrow vertical elongated space; a power driven system for vertically displacing the carriage; and a system supported by the guide track for releasably securing the guide track against movement lateral to the two walls and sideways in the narrow vertical elongated space.

Apparatus for coating narrow vertical elongated spaces

Apparatus and method for depositing a bed of polymeric insulating foam on a horizontal or sloped surface. The apparatus rolls on the surface being insulated and while it moves forward, lateral bands of insulating foam are sequentially and rapidly deposited by spraying a foamable liquid from a nozzle mounted on a carriage reciprocally moving on a track on the apparatus.
