A child proof and tamper evident container (C) includes a pail () and a screw top cover () screwed onto the top of the pail to enclose contents of the pail. A latching mechanism () is formed on the pail. A plurality of tamper evident tabs () and second a child proof tab () are formed on the cover. Both types of tabs means engage the latching mechanism as the cover is screwed onto the pail. The one tab provides an indication as to whether or not the contents of the container have been tampered with, and the second tab prevents a child from removing the cover and opening the container.

Child proof and tamper evident container

A container, capable of construction from polymeric injection molding, comprising a plug and ring closure, the plug having first and second locking arms for extending into the ring, each locking arm having a locking tab located adjacent to a distal end for selectively securing the plug within the ring when the locking tabs reside within an undercut of the ring.
