A non-transitory computer-readable medium is provided. The medium comprises a set of instructions, which, when executed by a processing system associated with a database or data warehouse, causes the processing system to retrieve data from a data source in accordance with a mapping between a first set of partitions and a second set of partitions, the first set of partitions being associated with the data source and the second set of partitions being associated with the database. The set of instructions, when executed by the processing system, further causes the processing system to load the retrieved data into the database. Retrieving the data and loading the retrieved data comprise a single logical unit of work. A database system and a method executed by a processing system associated with a database are also provided.

Real-time data retrieval

The traffic barrier was designed to give law-enforcement officers an effective traffic barrier which can be easily carried in the trunk of a car and quickly deployed across a roadway and just as quickly, removed from the roadway as the situation warrants. There is no need for assembly or mechanical procedure, the chain is simply stretched across the roadway at a right angle to the direction of traffic and pulled taut. The traffic barrier chain is designed so that no matter how the chain is placed on the road surface, half of the splines will be facing the direction of the traffic flow at an angle of 45 degrees. The other half will be facing the other direction. Deployment of the traffic barrier chain is a preferable option to using an expensive patrol car for a road block, or attempting to shoot out the tires or radiator of a vehicle. The traffic barrier chain would be a useful addition to the entries of security facilities where traditional gates are vulnerable to breech by ramming with a vehicle.

Traffic barrier chain

A siphon is formed of a long transparent main siphon tube having a distal end for insertion in a tank from which fluid is to be siphoned and having a proximal end. A smaller diameter transparent connection tube fits tightly within the main siphon tube at a proximal end but slides freely from the main siphon tube. An evacuating pump has a nipple connected to the inlet end, and the nipple fits tightly within a proximal end of the connection tube. After the distal end of the main siphon tube is placed in a tank, one pulls once or more on the plunger of the pump while gripping the proximal end of the main siphon tube and thus holding the connection of the main siphon tube and the connection tube. When fluid raises to a desired level in the siphon tube, a continued outward pull on the plunger past its normal limits and a simultaneous loosening of the grip on the proximal end of the siphon tube causes withdrawal of the pump and connection tube from connection with the main siphon tube, permitting the fluid to freely flow from the proximal end of the main siphon tube.
