A window or door is constructed to accept one or more intermediate pieces which may be used for adjusting the depth of the window or door. The intermediate piece includes, on one side, a first hook and an outrigger, and on the other side, a second hook and structure defining an outrigger receiving slot. The intermediate pieces lockingly and securely mate with the interior and exterior sections of the windows or doors.

A two part window and door assembly includes a sill, head and jambs for the window or door frame and stiles and rails for a window sash. Each of the sill, head, jambs, stiles and rails is formed in two parts, that is, an interior part and an exterior part. A coupling is used to join together the interior part and the exterior part of each of the sill, head, jambs, stiles and rails. The coupling includes an outrigger formed as an elongated member on one of the interior part and the exterior part. The other of the interior part and the exterior part defines an outrigger receiving slot. The coupling includes a first hook and a second hook. The first and second hooks are disposed on one and the other of the interior part and the exterior part. The outrigger is received by the outrigger receiving slot, and the first and second hooks engage each other to join the interior part and the exterior part together. A locking spline is used to selectively maintain the engagement of the first and second hooks so that the interior part and the exterior part remain joined together.

Two part window and door assembly and coupling for interconnecting components thereof

A multi-position window includes a stationary window frame, a sash window frame positioned within the stationary window frame and selectively pivotable out of the stationary window frame about a vertical axis and a horizontal axis, and a drive train positioned between the sash window frame and the stationary window frame. The drive train is preferably moveable between at least a first position which enables the sash window frame to be pivoted about the vertical axis and a second position which enables the sash window frame to be pivoted about the horizontal axis. The drive train is preferably moved by a mechanical actuator having a worm gear, pinion gear and rack which is concealed in the sash window frame to create a pleasing aesthetic appearance and is operatively connected to the drive train to move the drive train from the first position to the second position.

Mechanical actuator for a multi-position window

A safety-lock mechanism for use with a multi-position window having a stationary window frame, a sash window frame positioned within the stationary window frame and selectively pivotable out of the stationary window frame about a vertical axis and a horizontal axis, and a drive train positioned between the sash window frame and the stationary window frame, the drive train being moveable between at least a first position which enables the sash window frame to be pivoted about the horizontal axis and a second position which enables the sash window frame to be pivoted about the vertical axis. The safety-lock mechanism includes a spring-biased pin provided on the sash window frame. The pin has a proximal end, a distal end, a locked position and an unlocked position, and is normally biased into the locked position. An aperture is provided within the drive train and is configured to receive the proximal end of the pin. In the locked position, the proximal end of the pin extends into the aperture so as to prevent movement of the drive train from the first position into the second position. When the pin is placed in the unlocked position, the drive train is capable of being moved from the first position into the second position, thereby allowing the sash window frame to be pivoted about the vertical axis.

Safety-lock for multi-position tilt and turn window

A frame including a bracket receiver structure and at least one frame-to-sash bracket removably secured to the bracket receiver structure such that the frame-to-sash bracket can be removed or repositioned to enable various sash types to be interchanged within the frame. The frame-to-sash bracket can be a bracket configured to mount a double-hung sash, an inswing sash or an outswing sash within the frame. The various sash types can be installed from either the exterior side or the interior side of the frame.

Sash mount system

An extruded rail adjacent to the glazing in a window has a pair of integrally extruded receivers adapted to attachingly receive predetermined window glazing bead brackets which are each adapted to mate with the receivers. The glazing can be installed from either the exterior side or the interior side of the window, and can be located closer to one or the other of the sides by attachment sequence and selection of the predetermined bead brackets.

Window mount system

In a multi-position window that has a window sash that is rotatable out of the window frame on at least two different axis on pivots which are changed by a drive train on the sash moving to positions, the improvement includes one of a spring driven bolt and a strike on the window sash being moved by the drive train into alignment and engagement with the other on the window frame and with a hole for a tool to retract the bolt from the strike.
