A visualization device is provided that includes an actual light box that includes an illumination array for illuminating an actual object (O) placed in the actual light box; and a rear limiting wall which functions as a screen. The device also includes a computer programmed to spatially display a virtual light box on the screen, such that the virtual light box displayed on the screen appears to form a continuous rearward extension of the actual light box. In addition, a virtual object (O) may be displayed on the screen, such that the virtual object (O) is situated in the virtual light box. The combination of an actual light box and a virtual light box allows an observer to realistically assess appearance data rendered onto a virtual object, in a direct comparison with an actual object.

Visualization device

A processor-based device for displaying simulated or modeled surface appearances based on surface color and surface texture data stored in a data storage. By selecting different combinations of color and texture, different surface appearances may be modeled and displayed. Also, the device may comprise an orientation sensor. Accordingly, the device may additionally consider the orientation of the device when generating surface appearances.

A digital printer is equipped with a built-in color measurement device in the form of a colorimeter or spectral photometer, as well as with color management support. The built-in color measurement device is used for control and optimization of the print output, especially for the simplification, optimization and automation of the work processes and for the verification of the output results.

The present invention provides a method of digitally generating, via the use of a computer, data indicative of a synthesized appearance of a simulated material having physically plausible appearance attributes. The method includes determining a set of data indicative of the synthesized appearance of the simulated material based at least in part on data associated with the physically tangible source material and at least in part on data of measured attributes of the physically tangible reference material.

Visualization method

Apparatus, systems and methods are provided for simulating a material. In particular, the disclosed apparatus, systems and methods involve modeling deformation characteristics of a material and generating a virtual representation of a physical interaction with the material based on the modeled deformation characteristics of the material and data representative of the physical interaction.

Apparatus, systems and methods for simulating a material

Exemplary methods are directed to the linearization and characterization of an image producing device. In the method, a color test chart of the device is reproduced and measured based on a small number of color measurement fields with defined device color values. Associated color values are determined for each color measurement field and used to calculate linearization curves for the device. Additionally, by analysis of the device color values, the measured color values, and device behavior, an expanded color test chart with expanded device color values and associated expanded color values is calculated. The number of color measurement fields in the expanded color test chart is larger than the number of color measurement fields in the original color test chart. An ICC profile for the device is calculated from the expanded device color values and the expanded color values.

Linearization and characterization process of an image producing device

A color management system using distributed profiles includes a color printer adapted to print controlled color using a custom profile. The color printer system creates a custom profile by reading its initial characterization data, the profiles of the inks and the profile of the paper used in the printer. The color printing system includes a spectral measurement module adapted to generate spectral measurement of an output of the color printer. The printing system computes its initial characterization data by using the output of the color printer, measured by the spectral measurement module. The printing system updates the paper profile, the ink profile and/or the printer characterization data based on the measurement of the spectral measurement module.

Color management system using distributed profiles for color printing systems

An electronic projector (beamer) is equipped with a profiling device () internally or externally connected thereto through standard interfaces. The profiling device includes all functionalities required for the color management (color measurement, calibration, profile generation, etc.) and corresponds with the projector () by way of a simple text based protocol. The latter can be implemented relatively easily by way of software in the projector, so that no changes to the fundamental concept of the projector are required. The profiling device can therefore on the one hand be easily integrated at the factory into existing projectors and on the other hand used as external complement to available projectors. The profiling device can however also be an independent device for the profiling of other electronic display devices (for example monitors) as well as for other, for example metrological tasks.
