In some embodiments, a method receives a first signal that is sent in a first direction in a network. Communications in the network are full duplex communications in a same frequency band. The first signal is amplified in the first direction. The method trains a first echo canceller to cancel a first echo signal from the first signal where the first echo signal is received in a second direction. After training the first echo canceller, the trained first echo canceller is enabled. The method receives a second signal in the second direction that is sent in the second direction in the network. The second signal is amplified in the second direction. The method trains a second echo canceller to cancel a second echo signal received in the first direction from the second signal where the first echo canceller cancels the first echo signal that is received in the second direction.

Various methods, systems, and apparatuses can be used to perform burst efficient fast program acquisition. In some implementations, a burst efficient fast program acquisition system can operate to remove unused B-frame thereby reducing the bandwidth required for a fast burst. In other implementations, the burst efficient fast program acquisition system can decode the fast burst, identify the video frames needed for reassembly, and encode a truncated group of frames for fast burst transmission. A burst efficient fast program acquisition system can also use pre-calculated streamlined burst fast burst in conjunction with program prediction methods such as adjacent program and frequently viewed program thereby further reducing the latency associated with IPTV program acquisitions.

Systems and methods can provide for packet-rate policing and admission control with optional stress throttling. In some implementations, a broadband device can monitor bandwidth usage and respond after exceeding a maximum packet-rate threshold based on a per-channel basis. In other implementations, a broadband device can monitor bandwidth usage and respond after exceeding a maximum packet-rate threshold based on a per-service-flow basis. In additional implementations, a broadband device processor can feedback data to the packet-rate policer to throttle the packet rate based on processor utilization. Policing data traffic based on packet-rate instead of bandwidth can increase flexibility to service providers as an increasing number of services are deployed to users.

Systems and methods can operate to improve the communication bandwidth in communication systems. Communication systems can use new forward error correction (FEC) algorithms to increase communication bandwidth. New FEC algorithms can also enable the use of other modulation formats to further improve communication bandwidth. Communication devices that can select from a plurality of FEC algorithms and modulation formats can maintain backward compatibility with the deployed FEC algorithms and modulation formats implemented in legacy communication devices while realizing increased communication bandwidth.

Forward error correction for communications systems

Methods, systems, and apparatuses can provide a plurality of RF channels and outputs using digital modulation and combining. In various examples, generation of digital IQ packetized data in combination with digital switching can increase the number of RF modulated channels, optimize broadcast transmission and/or provide transmission resiliency.
