A connector assembly includes a connector module having a connector body with side edges and end edges. The connector body has contact channels holding contacts. The connector assembly includes a mounting frame having side walls and an end wall opposite a window between the side walls. The window is open to and provides access to a passage that receives the connector module. The mounting frame includes a connector module support structure for supporting the connector module in the passage that defines a confined space oversized relative to the connector body of the connector module to allow a limited amount of floating movement in the confined space in a lateral direction that is perpendicular to the mating direction.

Communication system having connector assembly

A controlled impedance compressible electrical connector having a housing with at least one terminal receiving cavity which extends from a first surface of the housing to a second surface of the housing. A terminal assembly is positioned in each of the at least one terminal receiving cavities of the housing. The terminal assembly has a first fixed center terminal, a second movable center terminal, a fixed outer shell, a movable outer shell, and a resilient member. The terminal assembly is configured to allow impedance of the electrical connector to be maintained as the second movable center terminal and the movable outer shell are moved relative to the first fixed center terminal, the fixed outer shell and the housing.

Controlled impedance compressible connector

A connector system includes an adapter with a first mating portion, a second mating portion and a transition portion. A continuous outer wall extends across the first mating portion, the transition portion and the second mating potion. A first terminal positioned in the adapter. At least one receptacle has a receptacle mating section and a receptacle transition section. A continuous receptacle outer conductive wall extends across the receptacle mating section and the receptacle transition section. A receptacle inner wall extends perpendicular to the receptacle outer wall. A second terminal is positioned in the at least one receptacle. A retention member is provided in the receptacle mating section. The continuous outer wall and the continuous receptacle outer wall form a grounding shield minimizing signal leakage from the first terminal and the second terminal.

Coaxial connector system with adaptor

A coaxial connector assembly has a housing with at least one contact receiving cavity which extends from a mating end to a contact assembly receiving end. The contact receiving cavity has a mounting section proximate the contact assembly receiving end. A contact assembly is positioned in the contact receiving cavity. The contact assembly has a front flange proximate a mating portion of the contact assembly. A positioning member is inserted on the mating portion of the contact assembly. The positioning member cooperates with the flange to position the positioning member on the mating portion of the contact assembly. The positioning member cooperates with a wall of the contact receiving cavity to limit the movement of the mating portion of the contact assembly in a direction which is transverse to a longitudinal axis of the contact assembly.

Floating coaxial connector with a stabilizing ring at the mating end

A coaxial connector assembly includes a connector module having a connector body that includes contact channels. The coaxial connector assembly includes coaxial contacts received in the corresponding contact channels having a center contact, a conductive shell coaxial with the center contact and an insulator between the center contact and the conductive shell. The coaxial connector assembly includes positioning adapters received in the corresponding contact channels having an adapter body forming an adapter bore that receives the coaxial contact. The adapter body engages the retention feature to position the coaxial contact relative to the adapter body and engages the connector body to position the coaxial contact in the contact cavity. The adapter component enables multiple coaxial contact sizes to be used in the same connector module contact channel.

Positioning adapter for coaxial connector assembly

A coaxial connector assembly includes a connector module having a connector body that includes contact cavities extending between a front side and a rear side of the connector body. The connector module has a cover having openings. Coaxial contacts are received in corresponding contact cavities each having a coaxial signal element and outer contact. The outer contact has a cable segment coupled to a coaxial cable and a mating segment. The cable segment has a front section and a rear section having a larger diameter than the front section and located rearward of the cover to receive the cable. The front section passes through the opening into the contact cavity to engage the mating segment. Biasing springs are located between the cover and the mating segment of the coaxial contact to bias the coaxial contact in the mating direction.

Coaxial connector assembly

A radio frequency (RF) socket contact is provided for mating with an RF mating pin. The RF socket contact includes a body having a base that extends a length along a central longitudinal axis. The body has an odd number of cantilevered deflectable beams that extend lengths outward from the base along the central longitudinal axis. The beams define a socket therebetween that is configured to receive the RF mating pin therein. The beams include a mating zone within the socket where the beams mate with the RF mating pin. The body of the socket contact is configured to conduct radio waves.

Socket contact

A coaxial cable connector is provided having an inner contact configured to be terminated to a center conductor of a coaxial cable. A dielectric insert holds the inner contact. A shell holds the dielectric insert. The shell extends between a mating end and a cable end. The cable end includes a housing having an edge. The cable end is configured to be terminated to an end of the coaxial cable by pressing the edge into the end of the coaxial cable such that the housing is positioned radially inward of a jacket of the coaxial cable and the housing is in direct contact with a cable braid of the coaxial cable.

Coaxial cable connector

A coaxial connector is configured to mate with a mating connector. The coaxial connector includes a housing that is at least partially electrically conductive, an inner electrical contact held by the housing, and an outer electrical contact. The outer electrical contact is concentrically arranged with the inner electrical contact such that the outer electrical contact is spaced radially apart from the inner electrical contact. The outer electrical contact defines a plug that is configured to be received within a receptacle of the mating connector. A coupling nut is configured to mechanically secure the electrical connector to the mating connector. The coupling nut is integrally formed with the housing and includes a radially inner surface having a thread configured to engage a thread of the mating connector.

Electrical connector that includes a connector housing having mating and terminating ends. The connector housing has a housing cavity and a leading edge at the mating end that defines an opening to the housing cavity. A central axis extends through the housing cavity between the mating and terminating ends. The electrical connector also includes a dielectric insert within the housing cavity and an electrical contact that is held by the insert along the central axis. The insert has a recess surface that faces the mating end and extends a radial distance, outward from the electrical contact. The insert includes a dielectric rim that projects from the recess surface toward the mating end. The dielectric rim surrounds: and is radially spaced from at least a portion of the electrical contact. The dielectric rim and the recess surface define an impedance-control space that surrounds at least the portion of the electrical contact.

A multi-port connector assembly includes a housing that has a front end and a back end. The housing has a plurality of openings therethrough that extend between the front end and the back end. The housing has a shelf that extends from the back end. The shelf has a plurality of channels formed therein. A plurality of contact subassemblies are received in corresponding openings. The contact subassemblies have center conductors and outer shells surrounding the center conductors. The outer shells have rails that extend outward therefrom. The rails are received in corresponding channels to orient the contact subassemblies with respect to the housing.

Multi-port connector assembly

An electrical connector assembly includes a housing, a connector and a conductor. The housing extends from a mating interface to a back end along a longitudinal axis and from a top side to a mounting interface along a vertical axis. The connector is disposed at the mating interface and is configured to mate with a mating connector. The conductor extends from the electrical connector to the mounting interface to provide a conductive pathway between the mating connector and the circuit board. The conductor includes a mating portion oriented along the longitudinal axis and a mounting portion oriented along the vertical axis. One of the mating portion and the mounting portion includes a bifurcated end having opposing contact tips and the other of the mating portion and the mounting portion includes an interconnection end that is received between the contact tips to electrically couple the mating portion and the mounting portion.
