A device for sustained delivery of a poorly water soluble drug is described. A drug reservoir within the device, when in operation, contains an aqueous suspension of the drug mixed with a suspension of an excipient that, in one embodiment, generates acidic groups for a sustained period of time to maintain a desired pH in the aqueous suspension that in turn provides a constant concentration of a soluble form of the drug.

Implantable device for long-term delivery of drugs

A timing valve includes a moveable piston that has a solid end face at a first end that includes an orifice, an open second end, and side walls that define an enclosed space, a stepped region on an outer surface of the piston, complementary stepped region on an inner surface of a hollow body containing the piston, and an annulus that extends toward the second end defined by a space between the outer surface of the piston and the inner surface of the hollow body. Fluid flowing through the orifice pushes the piston into an open position that forms a space between the stepped and complementary stepped regions that fills with fluid seeping in through the annulus. When pressure on the piston falls below a threshold, the return of the piston to a closed position is slowed by expelling fluid from the space between the stepped and complementary stepped regions.

Timing valve and kick-down valve

A drug delivery device that includes a capsule for implantation into the body; the capsule further includes a reservoir for containing a substance such as a therapeutic agent, at least one port for allowing the substance to diffuse from or otherwise exit the reservoir, and a nanopore membrane in communication with the capsule at or near the exit port for controlling the rate of diffusion of the substance from the exit port. The device also includes an optional screen for providing structural stability to the nanopore membrane and for keeping the pores of the nanopore membrane clear. One embodiment of the drug delivery device includes an osmotic engine internal to the device for creating fluid flow through the device.

Microfabricated nanopore device for sustained release of therapeutic agent

A pressure relief valve includes a singular body that encloses a seat and a stationary shim, a poppet, within the singular body, that is forced against a seat by a spring attached to the stationary shim, and a pin inserted into the pressure relief valve body to lock the pressure relief valve into a housing bore. The poppet includes a nose extension that extends into a void enclosed by the seat to provide damping. The seat includes a non-threaded stepped region on its outer surface and the singular body includes a complementary stepped region on its inner surface such that when the seat is fit into the singular body, the stepped region of the seat and the complementary stepped region of the singular body interface with each other to prevent movement of the seat toward the spring. The pin includes a coating to reduce friction and galling.

The check valve includes a poppet having a first end and a second end, and a first seat and a second seat, wherein the first seat is formed at the first end, the second seat is formed at the second end, and a diameter of the second seat is greater than a diameter of the first seat.
