The invention relates to a valve () for mounting to a surface () and for use in a flow path, which flows through said surface (), for permitting flow in said flow path in a first direction and for preventing flow in said flow path in a second direction being opposite to the first direction. The valve () comprises: one or more ports () defined by a plurality of lips (), wherein each lip () is resiliently deformable from a first position, in which the lips () are in contact with one another in order to close the respective port (), to a second position, in which the respective port () is opened in order to permit flow in the first direction, and one or more contacting structures () arranged to mechanically contact the surface (), when the valve is mounted to the surface (), such that the one or more contacting structures () bias the lips () into the first position.

Valve

The present invention relates to a method and a system () for filling a closed container () with a fixative solution. The system comprises a container () comprising a container body () for receiving a biological specimen, a lid () for selectively closing the container body () and a port () forming a unidirectional barrier in a direction from the inside (IC) to the outside (OC) of the closed container (). The system further comprises a dispensing apparatus () having a filling nozzle () for dispensing the fixative solution. The filling nozzle () is relatively moveable with respect to the container () between a retracted position and a filling position to fill the container () with the fixative solution.

System and method for filling a closed container with a fixative solution

Histological specimens traceability apparatus and method

Measuring apparatus () for tracking human and/or animal tissues comprising: a working area () for receiving a tissue; a detecting unit () configured to detect a unique tissue code provided with the tissue placed on the working area (); a measuring unit () configured to automatically measure quantitative properties of the tissue placed on the working area (); and a processing and storing unit () configured to automatically link the quantitative properties with the tissue code and to automatically store the so linked quantitative properties and tissue code such that the quantitative properties can be retrieved based on the tissue code.

The invention refers to a container () for collecting, transporting and storing biological tissue samples, wherein the container () is filled with a first component () being a fixative and a second component () being a fluid, wherein the second component () has a lower specific gravity compared to the fixative (), and is immiscible with the fixative (). Container and method for collecting, transporting and storing biological tissue samples

A device for the extraction of a compound from a solid material, which includes a microwave unit enclosing an inner vessel that is configured to hold a solid and that is fluidly sealed within an outer vessel configured to hold a solvent to be vaporized, and a condenser that is arranged to condense the vaporized solvent and deliver the condensed solvent to the inner vessel is described. The inner vessel has a solvent outlet configured to deliver condensed solvent that contains an extracted compound back to the outer vessel. The device includes a stirrer within the outer vessel and a stirrer within the inner vessel to provide agitation during the extraction process.
