Broom with multi-angle handle interconnector

A versatile broom, brush or similar floor care implement comprises a head anchoring on a first side thereof a multiplicity of bristles presenting a substantially-flat bristle surface, and an integrally-formed connector-mating structure on an opposed second side of the head. The cleaning implement is maneuvered by an elongated handle disposed at a variety of preselected angles. Intermediate the head and handle is a handle interconnector to which the handle is detachably secured at one extremity and a connection assembly is ratchetably-pivotably secured at the other extremity. The connection assembly and the integrally-formed connector-mating structure on the head interact so that the handle can be selectively pivoted in a single plane as much as 180.degree. or more and locked at any of a number of preselected angles relative to the substantially-flat bristle-end surface.

A surface-wiping device in which a compressible wiping member made of an absorbent material is mounted on a holder that is connected to a handle. The wiping member is affixed to a convex adhesive surface that surrounds a shaft. An roller is provided for squeezing liquid from the wiping member. This roller is pivotable about a shaft in response to the manipulation of a rod assembly that is attached to the handle.

The handle of the broom is canted in relation to its axis of rotation about the broomhead back through a given angle, and connected to the back by way of a hinge the axis of which is inclined through an angle, relative to the longitudinal axis of the back itself. The broom can be used with the handle either upright, or folded down in such a way as to keep the broomhead with the bristles resting upon the surface to be cleaned, without any unwanted tilting or wobbling movement.

The method disclosed envisages embodiment of a solid back carrying tufts of bristles or fibers etc which is provided, at least along the stretches near its outermost ends, with a series of sloping lands having an angle of inclination that is progressively less accentuated the nearer a single land is located to the middle section of the surface on which it is formed. Each land is provided with a corresponding hole whose axis is disposed normal or substantially normal to the land, whilst the remaining part of the surface is provided with uniformly-distributed holes the axes of which are either normal or marginally inclined relative to the surface itself. A device for removing dust and lint from clothing using adhesive coated rollers includes a pair of disc-like supports for the roller and are supported on a shaft. A second pair of disc-like members are also provided on the shaft positioned outwardly from the first pair of discs. The second pair of discs are slightly larger than the first pair and the inner diameter of the roller but smaller than the outer diameter of the roller. A handle is contiguous with one of the larger discs while the other is provided with a transverse slit allowing elastic deformation of the two halves of the disc for installation and removal of the roller. Disclosed herein is a device for rigidly coupling a handle to its corresponding manual instrument, and an instrument provided with the said device, comprising: a first element that can be connected to a handle, or else be made in one piece therewith, and has a terminal stem, the diameter of which is less, provided with projections whose surfaces, turned towards a shoulder defined by it with respect to the body of the first element, slope both with respect to the axis of the first element and to a plane perpendicular to the said axis; a second element provided internally with an axial hole, which allows the passage of the first element, and a number of projections equal in number or a multiple of those of the said stem, with lower surfaces shaped to accept flush therewith the sloping surfaces of the projections with which the said stem is provided. The coupling is ensured by a ring nut that can be screwed to the first element and be carried flush up against the upper surface of the body of the instrument to which the second element is fastened, and by a locator member positioned at the side of at least one of the projections on the second element.
