An air separator () comprises a first chamber () where blood or other fluid can be received, an inlet and an outlet port associated to the bottom wall () and in fluid communication with the first chamber. A first channel () extending along the lateral wall of the separator and has a first and a second portion (and). The channel second portion () terminally forms an orifice () facing the chamber and extending in an area closer to a top wall () of the chamber () than to the bottom wall of the same chamber. The orifice faces the top of the separator and has a flow passage cross section greater than that of a first portion () of the channel.

Air separator for extracorporeal fluid treatment sets

An extracorporeal blood chamber () comprises an expansion reservoir () having a first access () arranged laterally and a second access () arranged on the bottom of the chamber (). The chamber comprises, integrally with the reservoir, a first conduit terminating in the first access, a second conduit terminating in the first access, and a third conduit terminating in the second access. The extracorporeal blood enters the reservoir through the first conduit and there mixes with an infusion fluid which enters through the second conduit. The resulting mixture exits through the third conduit. The chamber is used in a hemo(dia)filtration apparatus to mix the blood optimally with the replacement fluid.

Extracorporeal blood chamber

In a blood transfer chamber, a filter () is arranged at an outlet located on a bottom of the chamber. The filter is truncoconical with a vertically-disposed axis. The filter has a plurality of openings () for fluid passage, a size of which openings increases gradually in an upwards direction going from bottom to top of the chamber. The filter is used in a venous air-blood separation chamber of a dialysis set. The invention enables a reduction of a risk of hemolysis during treatment as well as a reduction of the risk of formation of air bubble retention in the filter during a priming stage.

Blood transfer chamber

An extracorporeal blood circuit, comprising an expansion chamber for air-blood separation, wherein a filter () retains the solid particles in the blood. The filter has a trunco-conical filtering wall with a vertical axis surmounted by a top head () provided with upper openings () conformed and arranged such as to define a fluid passage which is asymmetrical with respect to the vertical axis. The top head does not retain air bubbles internally thereof, thus preventing a situation in which the air bubbles are directed towards an outlet of the expansion chamber and thus towards the patient. The extracorporeal circuit is used in a dialysis apparatus.

Extracorporeal blood circuit

An end-cap assembly for closing one end of a housing of a filter comprises an end-cap having an end wall; an inlet port extending through the end wall for connection to a first end of a pump hose of a peristaltic pump; and a first holder for securing a second end of the pump hose. The inlet port and the first holder are arranged relative to each other so that the pump hose forms a loop when the first end of the pump hose is connected to the inlet port and the second end of the pump hose is secured by the holder.

An integrated blood treatment module comprises a blood treatment device () having a housing () and a first end-cap () and a second end-cap () closing both ends of the housing (). A pump hose () for a peristaltic pump has a first end () that is secured to the housing () and a second end () that is connected to a blood inlet port () of the first end-cap () so as to form a loop. A degassing device () is connected to the second end-cap (). The degassing device (), which, in use, is full of liquid, comprises a hydrophobic membrane through which bubbles and micro-bubbles escape the degassing device.

Integrated blood treatment module

A fluid distribution module () for causing and monitoring the circulation of fluids from and to a patient through an extracorporeal blood treatment device, comprises a degassing device () connected to a connecting structure (). The degassing device () comprises a first chamber () having a lower inlet () for a liquid and a second chamber () having an upper opening () closed by a hydrophobic membrane () and an outlet () for discharging the liquid. The connecting structure () has at least a first and a second conduits () defined therein, wherein the first conduit () comprises a first end for connection to a discharge tube () from the treatment device and a second end connected to the inlet () of the first chamber () of the degassing device (), and the second conduit () comprises a first end connected to the outlet () of the second chamber () of the degassing device () and a second end for connection to a blood return tube () to a patient.

Fluid distribution module and extracorporeal blood circuit including such a module

A degassing device () comprises a first chamber () having an inlet for a liquid, and a second chamber () having an opening () closed by a hydrophobic membrane () and an outlet () for discharging the liquid. The first chamber () has a downstream portion that partially extends within the second chamber () and communicates therewith by a passageway (). The second chamber () has a downstream portion that extends below the passageway () and asymmetrically surrounds the downstream portion of the first chamber ().

Degassing device and end-cap assembly for a filter including such a degassing device

The invention relates to an integrated blood treatment module () comprising a support element () and a fluid distribution circuitry associated thereto; the distribution circuitry comprises at least a blood line (), a portion of which is secured to the support element and defines with the latter at least a U-shaped tube length () designed to cooperate, when in use, with a respective pump (). There are then further fluid lines () fastened to the support element and defining each at least a U-shaped tube length () with respect to said element and each designed to cooperate, when in use, with a respective pump (). The support element has a first zone () in which the portion of the blood line is secured, and at least a second zone () opposite said first zone, to which all the corresponding further tube lengths are fastened.

Integrated blood treatment module and extracorporeal blood treatment apparatus

The invention relates to an extracorporeal blood treatment machine in which a blood circuit () is equipped with an inlet line leading to a filtration unit () and with an outlet line () from the filtration unit; a fluid circuit comprises an inlet line () leading to the filtration unit and an outlet line () from the filtration unit so as to allow a fluid taken from a primary container () to circulate within the filtration unit, thus enabling the treatment of the patient's blood. There is further an infusion line () acting on the outlet line of the blood circuit, which is supplied by an auxiliary fluid container (). The inlet line of the fluid circuit is equipped with at least an infusion branch () acting on the outlet line of the blood circuit so as to enable the intensive therapy machine to manage therapies with large exchange of fluids.

The invention relates to support element () comprising a main body () having a front wall () and a peripheral wall () projecting away from the front wall. The front wall and the peripheral wall define a housing compartment () designed to receive a fluid distribution circuitry cooperating with a treatment unit for defining an integrated blood treatment module.

A description is given of a gas separation device for a physiological fluid, comprising a containing body () having at least a first inlet aperture () for a physiological fluid, positioned with a tangential direction of access, at least one outlet aperture () for the said fluid, spaced apart from the said inlet aperture, and a guide element () housed within the said body. The guide element () has a continuous active surface () designed to contact and guide the said fluid and delimits, together with the containing body (), a first annular chamber () into which the first inlet aperture () opens directly.
