A jointing assembly for electrical cables may include: a connector extending about a longitudinal axis and provided, at at least one end portion thereof, with at least one housing seat for at least one free end of a respective electrical cable; and a shrinkable sleeve coaxially arranged in a radially outer position with respect to the connector. The shrinkable sleeve may be held in a radially expanded state by at least one removable support element radially interposed between the connector and the shrinkable sleeve. The connector may be mechanically coupled to the at least one removable support element by at least one stop element that radially projects from at least one of the connector and the at least one removable support element, and that contacts the other one of the connector and the at least one removable support element.

This method includes the steps of: arranging a rigid tubular support having two axially separable tubular halves; mounting an elastic tubular sleeve in an elastically radially expanded condition on an outer surface of the support; interposing a lubricating material between the support and sleeve; arranging a circumferentially continuous sealing element between the halves to prevent the lubricant from percolating between the halves; positioning the support around the junction area; and moving the halves apart from each other to enable the sleeve to collapse on the junction area. Counteracting the axial ejection thrust may include applying axial reaction force to one end of the at least one supporting element axially projecting from the sleeve.

A method of disposing a tubular covering sleeve for electric-cable joints on a supporting element may include arranging the sleeve in a rest and not yet expanded condition; causing radial expansion of the sleeve starting from axially opposite end portions; and arranging the sleeve in a radially expanded condition on the supporting element. Radial expansion of the sleeve may be carried out gradually, starting from the end portions of the sleeve toward an axially intermediate portion of the sleeve. The method of may include arranging the sleeve; arranging a pair of expanders, each at a respective end of the sleeve and at a substantially coaxial position relative to the sleeve; introducing the expanders into the respective ends of the sleeve; abutting distal ends of the expanders against each other at an axially intermediate portion of the sleeve; and arranging the sleeve in a radially expanded condition on the supporting element.

A tubular covering sleeve for joints of electric cables may include a primary tubular body and a coating sheath. The primary tubular body may include at least one annular insert of semiconductive material integrated into at least one layer of insulating material. The present invention relates to a method for covering an elongate object in particular an electric cable or a pipe. The method includes providing a covering assembly which includes a tubular elastic covering element having at least one end which is folded to define at least one backward folded portion and at least one forward folded portion; a first supporting element which is arranged radially internal to the covering element and which holds the covering element in a radially stretched condition, and a second supporting element which is coaxially arranged around the first supporting element, the second supporting element holding said forward folded portion of the tubular elastic covering element in a radially stretched condition; removing the first supporting element to allow the sleeve to gradually collapse onto the elongate object.

A process for manufacturing an elastomeric sleeve of a joint for electrical cables. The sleeve has an electric field-control element, an electrical insulating element surrounding the electric field-control element, and at least a semiconductive element having two stress control screens.
