Tracking software usage through the following operations: calculating current digests of common libraries used by software programs and obtaining digital signatures of tracking information of the software programs comprising identifiers of their common libraries and the corresponding current digests; responses are returned to calls for the software programs in association with the corresponding tracking information and digital signatures. A corresponding method under the control of a client comprises receiving a response to a call for a software program in association with the corresponding tracking information and digital signature. The common libraries of the software program are tracked according to a verification of the digital signature and of the current digests against corresponding reference digests. Computer programs and computer program products for performing the methods are proposed. Moreover, corresponding server computing system, client computing system and computing infrastructure are proposed.

The system, method, and computer program product described herein provide ways to modify a user interface when a performance of the user interface degrades due to lack of resources including presenting the user interface to a user that includes a first element that requires an allocation of a first amount of resources of a server to perform a function, determining that a performance of the user interface has degraded below a threshold amount, in response to determining that the performance has degraded, identifying a second element that requires an allocation of a second amount of resources of the server to perform the function where the second amount of resources is smaller than the first amount of resources, and replacing the first element with the second element to reduce the required amount of resources that are allocated by the server to the user interface.

In several aspects of the present invention, a processor receives, from a rule-based intrusion detection system, an intercepted request sent by a hacker. A processor analyzes the intercepted request to determine, in part, a type of service and a type of hacker. A processor builds a first layer of a honeypot maze based on the analyzed intercepted request. A processor simulates the first layer of the honeypot maze to the hacker. A processor iteratively builds additional layers of the honeypot maze based on additional intercepted requests from the hacker.

Load information indicative of a workload over time of one or more computing resources being used by the software application is monitored. Furthermore, social information indicative of a social activity over time relating to the software application is monitored. An estimated correlation between the monitored load information and the monitored social information is determined. A future requirement of the computing resources for the software application is then forecasted according to the monitored social information and the estimated correlation for use in provisioning the computing resources to the software application accordingly.

An interruption of services for a multi-tier application is avoided based on a probability of a disk failure. A criticality factor value is assigned to a component of the multi-tier application. A disk failure probability value is predicted for a disk drive of a disk volume accessed by the component. If the disk failure probability value is above a predefined probability value and the assigned criticality factor value of the component is below a predefined criticality threshold value for the disk drive, the disk drive is marked to be exchanged during a next maintenance window. Alternatively, if the disk failure probability value is above the predefined probability value and the assigned criticality factor value of the component is equal to or above the predefined criticality threshold value, an immediate full copy of data of the disk drive is performed to a newly instantiated disk volume on another disk drive.

Load information indicative of a workload over time of one or more computing resources being used by the software application is monitored. Furthermore, social information indicative of a social activity over time relating to the software application is monitored. An estimated correlation between the monitored load information and the monitored social information is determined. A future requirement of the computing resources for the software application is then forecasted according to the monitored social information and the estimated correlation for use in provisioning the computing resources to the software application accordingly.

Efficient sorting in a relational database

A solution for distributing software products in a data processing system is disclosed. A set of models of each software product is to be distributed (for example, of the UML type) is provided; each model includes an indication of relationships among a plurality of available logical items (representing functions provided by the software product, such as use cases) and a plurality of available distribution artifacts (used to distribute the software product). A set of logical items is then selected among the available ones. The process continues by identifying a set of distribution artifacts required to implement the selected logical items (among the available distribution artifacts); the required distribution artifacts are identified according to the corresponding relationships in the models. A software package is built including the required distribution artifacts. The software package is then distributed to a set of data processing entities of the system (i.e., endpoints), so as to cause each entity to install the required distribution artifacts on the entity.
