The assembly comprises a bearing unit () with outer () and inner () rings and an outer wheel () of plastic material which is overmolded onto the outer bearing ring and is adapted for being engaged by a driving belt. A sleeve unit () is integral with the inner bearing ring (). The sleeve unit includes one or more rigid tubular spacers () and a central, plastic tubular core (). The spacers () are axially aligned with the inner bearing ring () and abut against one or both of the opposite sides () of the inner bearing ring (). The central tubular core () is overmolded into and axially extending along radially inner cylindrical surfaces () of both the inner bearing ring () and tubular spacer(s) ().

Idler and bearing assembly and a method of manufacturing same

A bearing assembly () provided with a rolling bearing unit () having an outer ring () provided with a centring flange () with a peripheral edge () and an inner ring () provided with a relevant centring flange () with a relevant peripheral edge () with a contact configuration for rolling elements, a plastic modular body () which snapped fixed on the bearing unit () and is radially limited by a radially outer, axial cylindrical surface () integral with the outer ring () and a radially inner, axial cylindrical surface () integral with the inner ring (); coupling device () being provided to join mechanically the plastic body () to the bearing unit () so as peripheral edges () partly define the relevant cylindrical surfaces (), and the plastic modular body () being provided, for each ring () (), with two annular bodies () () which are mounted on either side of said central flange ().

Bearing assembly

A bearing assembly includes at least one rolling bearing unit having an outer race and an inner race rotatable relative to the outer race, and two annular bodies of plastic material overmoulded on the outer race and the inner race, respectively, of the bearing unit. At least one of the two annular bodies has a free cylindrical surface. One of the two bearing races forms a radially extending flange having a cylindrical end surface, circumferentially continuous or discrete, which ends flush with the free cylindrical surface of plastic material.
