A request associated with a destination to which a point of interception, POI, () is to transmit intercepted data via an X2/X3 interface during lawful interception, LI, is received from an administrative function, ADMF (), via an X1 interface. The request comprises an identifier of the destination and version information that specifies at least one version of a transmission protocol to use by the POI for transmission of intercepted data to the identified destination. The POI determines whether or not the POI is able to transmit intercepted data via the X2/X3 interface using a version of the protocol that is equal to one of the versions in the received version information. The received version information is compared with version information available in the POI. A response is transmitted via the X1 interface that indicates if the POI is able to transmit intercepted data via the X2/X3 interface.

Transmitting or receiving version information of transmission protocol

A determination is made that an identity of a non-target communicating entity () with which a target communicating entity () is communicating, is to be obfuscated in any report of lawful interception of the target communicating entity () to a law enforcement agency (). The present invention relates to a method for providing a Law Enforcement Agency with user data related to a target subscriber. A Multiservice Proxy () is hereby acting as Intercepting Control Element (). The method comprises the following steps: A request to intercept traffic data related to the target is received () to the Intercepting Control Element (). User data related to the target subscriber for which traffic data has been requested is collected () in the Intercepting Control Element. The collected data is forwarded () to a Law Enforcement Management Function.

User data automatic lookup in lawful interception

The method provides a Law Enforcement Agency LEA with retention or interception data related to a target user. At a data retention source node or at an interception control element of a telecommunications network, traffic packets involving the target user are inspected and a plurality of usage data records based on the inspected traffic packets are generated. Each record comprises information relating to a certain service class and to a respective communications stack layer. For each communications session involving a plurality of different communications stack layers, at the data retention source node or, respectively, the interception control element, the plurality of usage data records are provided with a same correlation identity number for correlating the data at the different communications stack layers. Then, the usage data records comprising the correlation identity number to the LEA are sent, for instance to the LI system or the data Retention System, respectively.

Apparatuses, methods, and computer program products for data retention and lawful intercept for law enforcement agencies

A method monitors data affected by malware in a communication network. The malware detecting entity acts as a data retention source. The method includes receiving at a data retention system a query request specifying data affected by malware to be accessed. Retained data which matches the query request and received from the malware detecting entity is identified in the data retention system. The identified data is forwarded from the data retention system to an authorized organization.

A method and apparatus for performing Lawful Interception in a communications network. An Access Transfer Control Function (ATCF) receives an activation message instructing lawful interception.
