A method and associated system. Expected problems in a workload plan are predicted in response to any current occurrences of impacting system events according to the workload plan and corresponding expected impacts of the impacting system events of system events on execution of impacted work units of work units. Predicting the expected problems includes: identifying workload deadlines relating to the impacted work units in the workload plan; estimating intervention times for addressing the expected problems before missing the corresponding workload deadlines; determining corresponding minimum times required to fulfill the workload deadlines according to a progress of the workload plan; and estimating each of the intervention times further according to the minimum time of the corresponding workload deadline. An intervention program of system interventions on the computing system is established. The system interventions address the current occurrences of impacting system events according to the corresponding expected problems.

System interventions based on expected impacts of system events on scheduled work units

Expected impacts of one or more impacting system events of one or more system events on execution of one or more impacted work units of one or more work units are estimated according to (i) system event historical information indicative of previous occurrences in a computing system of the one or more system events and (ii) work unit historical information indicative of previous executions of the one or more work units. Expected problems in a workload plan are predicted in response to any current occurrences of the impacting system events according to the corresponding expected impacts and the workload plan. An intervention program of one or more system interventions on the computing system is established. The system interventions address the current occurrences of the impacting system events according to the corresponding expected problems. An indication of the intervention program for programming the system interventions accordingly is outputted.

System interventions based on expected impacts of system events on schedule work units

A method and system. System event historical information indicative of previous occurrences in a computing system of system events is retrieved. Work unit historical information indicative of previous executions of work units is retrieved. Expected impacts of impacting system events of the system events on the execution of one or more impacted work units of the work units are estimated according to the system event historical information and the work unit historical information. Expected problems in a workload plan are predicted in response to any current occurrences of the impacting system events according to the corresponding expected impacts and the workload plan An intervention program of one or more system interventions on the computing system is established, the system interventions addressing the current occurrences of the impacting system events according to the corresponding expected problems. An indication of the intervention program for programming the system interventions accordingly is outputted.

According to embodiments of the disclosure, methods, systems, and computer program products are disclosed. A computer implemented method of allocating resources in a job scheduling system may include segmenting a workload plan into one or more time slots, determining, prior to each time slot, a job forecast for the time slot, the job forecast based on historical job data, and modifying the resource pool to bring a resource pool parameter within a resource range in response to determining that the job forecast exceeds a job deadline. The workload plan may have one or more jobs for a resource pool, the one or more jobs may be scheduled in at least one of the time slots. The resource pool may have one or more resources.

Resource allocation in job scheduling environment

A computer implemented method, system, and/or computer program product selects a target computer to execute a job. For each computer in a system, a statistical mean of last job duration values is computed from historical records for all computers that have executed the job. Multiple pools of computers are selected based on a statistical mean of last job duration values. A ratio for each pool from the multiple pools is computed. This ratio is a ratio of the quantity of current executions of the job in a particular pool compared to a total of current job executions of the job in all of the multiple pools of computers. A particular pool of computers, which has a computed ratio that is closest to a preselected ratio, is selected. A target computer is selected from the particular pool of computers to execute a next iteration of the job.
