A rigid structure for a vehicle seat element, the structure being formed as a single piece made of a composite material comprising a thermoplastic matrix and reinforcing fibers forming at least firstly first and second rigid sideplates each extending between a first end and a second end, and secondly a rigid horizontal cross-member secured to the second ends of the sideplates. The structure has at least one hinge comprising a first fixing portion overmolded by the first end of the first sideplate.

Structure for a vehicle seat element, and a method of making such a structure

A seat device comprises a base and a seat itself comprising a back and a seat proper. The back comprises a bottom portion and a top portion pivotally mounted on the bottom portion via a first locking mechanism. The bottom portion of the back is pivotally mounted on the base via a second locking mechanism. Both locking mechanisms can be unlocked simultaneously so as to allow the top portion to be retracted into the bottom portion within a cavity provided in the base.

A seat pan for an automobile vehicle includes a frame carrying a suspension lattice having two sections separated by a vertical median plane dividing the seat into right and left hand sides. A motor and crankshaft combination is connected to each section of the lattice for generating in each section of the lattice a cyclic movement including, in the upper portion of its travel, a rearward movement of translation. The cyclic movements of the sections occur with an angular phase difference therebetween.

The supporting sheet forms a bag that is fitted onto the rigid frame over its first side upright so as to cover the top and bottom cross-members and the first side upright, the resilient supporting sheet being fixed to the second side upright.

A modular seat layout system in an automobile vehicle that includes at last two seats located one behind the other. The front seat is attached to the floor of the vehicle by a first set of hinged items so that the seat pan of the front seat can translate forward to be housed in the space existing in front of the front seat when it is in the normal utilization position. The backrest of the front seat extends more or less horizontally towards the rear from the seat pan at the location that the seat pan occupies in the normal utilization position. The rear seat is attached to the floor by a second of hinged items so that the rear seat can be folded and placed against the backrest of the front seat.

In order to ensure that a vehicle seat, having a supporting face and incorporating microcapsules of phase-change material having a phase transition temperature between 15 and 37&deg; C., is comfortable to use in terms of temperature, the support face is heated or cooled before the seat is used so that the phase-change material is at its transition temperature when a user subsequently sits on the seat.
