The firewall is configured by its location to permit unrestricted access by the network to the network portion, and one or more shared processing operations conducted by the microchip with the network are executed at least by one or many microprocessors located in the network portion.

This invention generally relates to one or more computer networks having computers like personal computers or network servers with microprocessors linked by broadband transmission means and having hardware, software, firmware, and other means such that at least one parallel processing operation occurs that involve at least two computers in the network. More particularly, this invention relates to one or more large networks composed of smaller networks and large numbers of computers connected, like the Internet, wherein more than one separate parallel processing operation involving more than one different set of computers occurs simultaneously and wherein ongoing processing linkages can be established between virtually any microprocessors of separate computers connected to the network. Still more particularly, this invention relates to business arrangements enabling the shared used of network microprocessors for parallel and other processing, wherein personal computer owners provide microprocessor processing power to a network, preferably for parallel processing, in exchange for network linkage to other personal and other computers supplied by network providers, including linkage to other microprocessors for parallel or other processing; the basis of the exchange between owners and providers being whatever terms to which the parties agree, subject to governing laws, regulations, or rules, including payment from either party to the other based on periodic measurement of net use or provision of processing power.

A system comprising a personal computer configured to operate with another computer connected to a network of computers. The personal computer includes a microchip having a microprocessor with a control unit and at least two processing units, the control unit being configured to allow a user of the personal computer to control the two processing units, and the microchip including a power management component. The personal computer includes an internal firewall configured to allow and/or deny access to portions of the microchip both to the user of the personal computer and to a user of the microchip from the network of computers during a shared use of the microchip; and the internal firewall is configured to deny access to portions of the microchip from the network of computers.

Internal hardware firewalls for microchips

This invention relates generally to footwear such as a shoe, including an athletic shoe, with a shoe sole, including at least one removable midsole section formed by a midsole portion, wherein the removable midsole section is non-orthotic. The removable midsole section is inserted within the shoe upper, the sides of which hold it in position. The shoe sole includes a concavely rounded side or underneath portion, which may be formed in part by the removable midsole section. The removable midsole section may extend the length of the shoe sole or may form only a part of the shoe sole and can incorporate cushioning or structural compartments or components. The removable midsole section provides the capability to permit replacement of midsole material which has degraded or has worn out in order to maintain optimal characteristics of the shoe sole. The shoe sole can, in another embodiment, include at least one compartment containing a fluid, a flow regulator, a pressure sensor to monitor the compartment pressure, and a control system such as a computer processor capable of automatically adjusting the pressure in the compartment(s) in response to the impact of the shoe sole with the ground surface.

A shoe having a sole contour which follows a theoretically ideal stability plane as a basic concept, but which deviates outwardly therefrom to provide greater than natural stability. Thickness variations outwardly from the stability plane are disclosed, along with density variations to achieve a similar greater than natural stability.

In its simplest conceptual form, the applicant's invention is the structure of a conventional shoe sole that has been modified by having its sides bent up so that their inner surface conforms to a shape nearly identical but slightly smaller than the shape of the outer surface of the sides of the foot sole of the wearer (instead of the shoe sole sides conforming to the ground by paralleling it, as is conventional). The shoe sole sides are sufficiently flexible to bend out easily when the shoes are put on the wearer's feet and therefore the shoe soles gently hold the sides of the wearer's foot sole when on, providing the equivalent of custom fit in a mass-produced shoe sole. This invention can be applied to shoe sole structures based on a theoretically ideal stability plane as a basic concept, especially including structures exceeding that plane. The theoretically ideal stability plane is defined as the plane of the surface of the bottom of the shoe sole, wherein the shoe sole conforms to the natural shape of the wearer's foot sole, particularly its sides, and has a constant thickness in frontal or transverse plane cross sections.

Shoes sole structures

A shoe sole having at least one midsole or outer surface portion that is concavely rounded relative to a space inside the shoe adapted to receive an intended wearer's foot. The sole includes a midsole and an outer sole. The midsole extends up the side of the sole to a vertical height above the vertical height of a lowest point of the inner midsole surface. The midsole includes a portion of greatest thickness in a side portion that is greater than a thickness of a second midsole portion located in a middle sole portion of the shoe sole. The combination of the midsole height and thickness with the concavely rounded surface portion together provide improved stability of the shoe sole.

Shoe sole structures using a theoretically ideal stability plane

An athletic shoe sole for a shoe has side portions with concavely rounded inner and outer surfaces, as viewed in at least a heel area and a midtarsal area of the shoe sole. The rounded surfaces increasing at least one of lateral and medial stability of the sole. The concavely rounded portion of the sole outer surface located at the heel area extends substantially continuously through a sidemost part of the sole side. The rounded portion of the sole outer surface located at the midtarsal area extends up the sole side to at least a level corresponding to a lowest point of the sole inner surface. A midsole component of the shoe sole extends into the sidemost section of the sole side and also extends up the sole side to above a level corresponding to a lowest point of the sole inner surface. The concavely rounded portions of the sole midtarsal area are located at least at the sole lateral side. The sole outer surface of at least part of the midtarsal area is substantially convexly rounded, as viewed in a shoe sole sagittal plane.

Shoe sole with rounded inner and outer side surfaces

A construction for a shoe, particularly an athletic shoe such as a running shoe, includes a sole that is constructed according to the applicant's prior invention of a theoretically ideal stability plane. Such a shoe sole according to that prior invention conforms to the natural shape of the foot, particularly the sides, and that has a constant thickness in frontal plane cross sections; the thickness of the shoe sole sides contour equals and therefore varies exactly as the thickness of the load-bearing sole portion. The new invention relates to the use of the theoretically ideal stability plane concept to provide natural stability in negative heel shoe soles that are less thick in the heel area than in the rest of the shoe sole. This new invention also relates to the use of the theoretically ideal stability plane concept to provide natural stability in flat shoe soles that have no heel-lift, maintaining the same thickness throughout; such a design avoids excessive structural rigidity by using contoured stability sides abbreviated to only essential structural support elements to provide the shoe sole with natural flexibility paralleling that of the human foot. The abbreviation of essential structural support elements can also be applied to negative heel shoe soles, again to avoid excessive rigidity and to provide natural flexibility.
