A method of routing synchronization messages in a packet communication network, in which a packet is routed using a global routing table. A piece of equipment in the network implements the following steps: detecting a packet carrying a synchronization message in a packet stream; determining an output port; emitting a packet carrying the message at the determined output port, the message being modified using a piece of information representing a time of transit in the equipment. A synchronization routing table, which stores at least one association between an input port and at least one output port, is configured in the equipment. When the packet carrying the received message indicates a routing needs to be carried out using the synchronization table, the output port for this packet is determined by the equipment according to an input port on which the packet is received and by reading the synchronization table.

Method of routing synchronization messages

A method for communicating between first termination equipment and at least one second and one third termination equipment through respective first and second pseudo links in a packet-switching network. The method includes the following steps performed by the first termination equipment: intercepting a data frame sent by first customer equipment, connected to the second termination equipment, to second customer equipment, the data frame including identifiers of the first customer equipment and the second customer equipment; determining a parameter for identifying the second termination equipment, based on the identifier of the first customer equipment; and determining a parameter for identifying the third termination equipment, based on the identifier of the second customer equipment; and transmitting, to the second termination equipment, of a request to establish a third pseudo-link between the second termination equipment and the third termination equipment through which the data sent by the first customer equipment are transmitted.

Method of communication between two items of termination equipment

A method is provided for transmitting a data stream from a plurality of terminating (leaf) devices toward another terminating (root) device, the leaf and root devices forming the ends of a multipoint-to-point pseudowire based on a packet switched network to which the terminating devices belong, the method comprising: receiving, by a switching device, also belonging to the packet switched network, a first data stream sent by a first leaf device toward the root device, receiving, by the switching device, a second data stream sent by a second leaf device toward the root device, aggregating the first and second data streams into a third data stream, the switching device having been configured to aggregate the first and second data streams via a parameter called the aggregation parameter, included in a pseudowire establishment request, and transmitting the third data stream toward the root device.

Multipoint-to-point pseudowire

A method of communicating through a pseudo-wire set up between first and second provider edge nodes of a packet-switched network through at least one router of the packet-switched network, said method comprising, during a phase of transmitting data through the pseudo-wire in accordance with parameters defining a first communication session set up between the first and second provider edge nodes steps of: the second provider edge node receiving a set up message a of second communication session between the first and second provider edge nodes, the setting up message comprising parameters defining the second session, and the second equipment sending the router a notification message comprising parameters defining the second session and indicating switching of data transmission to the second communication session, the phase of transmitting data continuing in accordance with the parameters defining the second communication session.

Mechanism for updating parameters of a session set up through a virtual circuit

A method and apparatus are provided for establishing a first pseudo-wire between a first item of input terminal equipment and an item of output terminal equipment, used by the first item of input terminal equipment. The method includes a step of transmitting a first message requesting establishment of the first pseudo-wire to an item of switching equipment, the first pseudo-wire to be established consisting of a first link between the first item of input terminal equipment and the item of switching equipment and of a second link between the item of switching equipment and the item of output terminal equipment. In such a method, the first establishment-request message also includes a request to establish at least one backup pseudo-wire consisting of the second link and of a third link to be established between the item of switching equipment and a second item of input terminal equipment.

Method for protecting a pseudo-wire

A method and apparatus are provided for configuring a virtual circuit set up between a first and a second terminal installation. The virtual circuit is carried by an underlying path including a first link set up between the first terminal installation and an intermediate installation, and a second link set up between the intermediate installation and the second terminal installation. A third link of the underlying path is set up between the intermediate installation and a third terminal installation. The method includes a step of configuring the third terminal installation, on completion of which the latter is able to process in reception a data stream transmitted through the virtual circuit.
