A detachable enclosure unit for use at standard watthour meter sockets includes a central housing for carrying auxiliary equipment and an integral mounting extension with a snap-on retainer for adaptive mounting to both ring and ringless sockets. The retainer provides a removable circumferentially disposed flange surface equally accommodating the different types of meter sockets.

A high efficiency bistable tractive solenoid device includes a magnetic housing having an interior cylindrical wall supporting stacked electromagnetic parts including a pair of coils and plural end pole pieces having inner diameters which are concentrically arranged to define a center bore. A double-acting plunger has an armature which is received by the center bore and is terminated by shaft ends having reduced diameters and being journalled for sliding movement in end plates also assembled within the housing interior wall with one of the shaft ends carrying a cam having a detent for latching the plunger in place.

A telescoping high current disconnect switch for isolated phase bus includes a pair of axially spaced cylindrical fixed conductors insulatingly mounted within a cylindrical aluminum housing. An aluminum telescope section is coaxial with the fixed conductors and is insulatingly mounted upon a plurality of rollway pillow blocks each containing ball bearings. The pillow blocks are supported by guide rails of austenitic non-ferromagnetic stainless steel which are attached to the interior surface of the housing. The telescope section is axially movable along the guide rails to bridge the fixed conductors, such movement causing the ball bearings to cold-form grooves in the rails, whereby portions of the rails are work-hardened.

A pushbutton assembly having a key operable actuating plunger. The key operable actuating plunger includes a locking tab insertable in the space between a stop member which secures the actuating plunger in the housing, and a wall portion of a slot in the housing which receives the stop member.

A hollow, rotatable shaft bore heater assembly for heating a shaft from its inside to its outside. Rapid rotatable shaft heating is provided by a plurality of electrical heaters situated in slots formed on the inner surfaces of a plurality of foundation members which are insertable in the hollow shaft and are biased thereagainst by biasing structure. When assembled, the foundation members constitute a substantially cylindrical structure which has the slots formed on its inner surface and the electrical heaters are restrained within those axially extending and circumferentially separated slots by insulation disposed on the inner surface of the foundation members across the slots open mouths. The biasing structure provides biasing force between circumferentially adjacent foundation members so as to maintain contact between the shaft and foundation members during non-rotation of the shaft.

A push-button assembly including a housing having an actuating plunger, a cover for the housing, and an electrical contact assembly mounted on the cover. Assembly of the cover on the housing orients and operatively couples the actuating plunger with the electrical contact assembly.

A telescoping disconnect switch for isolated phase bus has a cylindrical movable conductor having a plurality of individual contact assemblies each comprising a contact finger and an axially loaded spring fixedly attached thereto. The contact assemblies are circumferentially arranged about the movable conductor and are removably secured between a contact holder ring and a spring retainer ring. A plurality of stabilizer pads are symmetrically arranged around the circumference of the movable conductor between the contact fingers and are fixedly secured to the movable conductor to stabilize the contact assemblies and align the conductor as it moves to open and close the circuit.

A pushbutton assembly illuminated with a plurality of solid state light sources, such as LEDs. The pushbutton assembly includes first and second spaced printed circuit boards which are electrically interconnected via electrical leads which also function to mechanically support the second printed circuit board from the first printed circuit board. The LEDs are mounted on the second printed circuit board, immediately adjacent to the front portion of the pushbutton assembly to be illuminated.

A control center characterized by vertical bus bars having electrically insulating covers thereon which covers are in surface-to-surface contact with all surfaces of the bus bars except for spaced areas where connection is made by conductors for load distributions. In addition, each pair of spaced bus bars are isolated from each other by interfitting portions of the covers which portions are coextensive with the bus bars so that resistance to tracking and arcing between the bus bars is maximized.
