A pressurized air supply system for providing pressurized air to an air powered derailleur of a bicycle having a bicycle frame. The system comprises an air pumping mechanism attached to the bicycle frame and adapted to supply pressurized air when actuated. Fluidly connected to the pumping mechanism and to the derailleur is a pressure reservoir of the system. The pumping mechanism is attached to the bicycle frame such that the passage of the bicycle over uneven terrain facilitates the actuation of the pumping mechanism and resultant charging of the pressure reservoir with pressurized air.

A bicycle frame having shock absorbing characteristics. The bicycle frame generally comprises a head tube and a seat tube having an elongate crossbar rigidly attached thereto and extending therebetween. Rigidly attached to and extending between the seat tube and the crossbar is a shock absorber. The bicycle frame further includes first and second chain stay members having front ends pivotally connected to the opposed sides of an axle receiving sleeve attached to the lower end of the seat tube and rear ends adapted to support a tire axle therebetween. Additionally, first and second seat stay members are rigidly attached to and extend between the shock absorber and the rear ends of the chain stay members. Upon the exertion of a downward force to the seat tube, the chain stay members are caused to pivot upwardly thereby compressing the shock absorber via the movement of the seat stay members.

Bicycle frame composition

A bicycle crossbar for attachment between a head tube and seat tube of a bicycle and for providing cable concealment and increased structural integrity to the resultant bicycle frame. The crossbar comprises an elongate, rigid tubular member having a groove formed within and extending longitudinally along the side wall thereof which is sized and configured to accommodate three cables of the bicycle. The crossbar is formed in a manner wherein the side wall, including the groove formed therein, is of greater thickness at its end portions. The crossbar further includes first and second cable receiving members which are rigidly secured within the groove and adapted to facilitate the entrance and exit of the three cables into and out of the groove.

An improved vertical dropout assembly for attachment to a bicycle frame is disclosed which comprises an easily replaceable vertical dropout member and an interchangeable derailleur hanger system. The dropout member is configured to allow the adjustment of the rear wheel within the frame of the bicycle and to provide improved clearance between the frame and chain. The derailleur hanger system is operable to position any make of derailleur at its optimum location with respect to the rear wheel and is adapted to be easily replaced in the event of an accident.
