With the invention a metallic flat product can be systematically made available with such a fine, stochastic or quasi-stochastic surface texture that after a typical automotive paint application it is only minimally perceptible, if at all, by the human eye. At the same time, in the case of a surface topography constituted according to the invention, the transition between the peak plateaus and the valleys takes place via steep flanks.
