Techniques are provided for selecting measurement gap periods for positioning user equipment, UE, in 5G NR. A method for positioning a user equipment includes receiving () positioning assistance data associated with one or more frequency layers from a network, determining () measurement gap information for one or more bands associated with the one or more frequency layers, determining () a number of available positioning reference signals for each of the one or more bands based on the positioning assistance data and the measurement gap information, measuring () one or more positioning reference signals for a selected band, wherein the selected band is based on the number of available positioning reference signals in a measurement gap, and computing () location information based at least in part on one or more positioning reference signal measurements.

Method and apparatus for selection of bands to maximize measurements in a tuneless measurement gap

Systems and techniques are provided for performing Quasi-Zenith Satellite System (QZSS) signal acquisition. For example, an example of a method for performing QZSS signal acquisition includes obtaining a modulated message signal using a frequency band and generating, based on an estimated set of signal acquisition parameters associated with an acquired signal, an energy grid of correlation codes. A series of extracted data bytes can be generated for each respective hypothesis of a plurality of hypotheses, based on a location of a peak energy within the energy grid of correlation codes. A correct hypothesis out of the plurality of hypotheses can be determined, wherein the correct hypothesis is associated with a generated series of extracted data bytes that includes a pre-determined header preamble pattern. The modulated message signal can be decoded using an initial code phase associated with the correct hypothesis.

Systems and techniques for quasi-zenith satellite system (QZSS) signal acquisition

In an aspect, a UE receives first positioning assistance data (AD). The UE transmits an indication to a network component (e.g., BS, core network component, LMF, etc.) that the UE has received the first positioning AD. The network component determines second positioning AD that is based at least in part upon the first positioning AD. The network component transmits the second positioning AD to the UE.

A UE receives a first configuration for at least one RRM measurement gap. The UE receives one or more PRSs prior to the at least one RRM measurement gap. The UE identifies whether a processing availability of the UE during the at least one RRM measurement gap is sufficient to process the one or more PRSs. The UE processes the one or more PRSs, where in response to the processing availability of the UE during the at least one RRM measurement gap, the one or more PRSs are processed during the at least one RRM measurement gap; and in response to lack of the processing availability of the UE sufficient to process the one or more PRSs during the at least one RRM measurement gap, the one or more PRSs are processed, at least in part, outside of the at least one RRM measurement gap.
