The rearview mirror comprises a mirror glass, which is mounted to a carrier plate. A display unit is disposed behind the mirror glass and the carrier plate, which generates a light beam by means of an illuminant, wherein said light beam is coupled into a light conductor. The light beam is directed outward by means of a reflection free portion of the mirror glass, so that light passing through is directed towards the driver by means of the deflection optics.

An exterior rearview mirror for vehicles has a mirror base and a mirror head connected to the mirror base so as to be pivotable in and counter to a travel direction of the vehicle. At least one lifting device imparts to the mirror head a movement away from the mirror base when the mirror head is pivoted forwardly in the travel direction. The lifting device has a lifting element connected with the mirror head and a counter element connected with the mirror base.

Exterior rearview mirror for vehicles, in particular, motor vehicles

An exterior rearview mirror for motor vehicles has a mirror base and a mirror head connected foldably to the mirror base. An electrical line extends through the mirror base to an electrical consumer arranged in the mirror head. The electrical line has a first line section arranged in the mirror base and a second line section arranged in the mirror head. A first plug part is connected to the first line section and a second plug part is connected to the second line section. The first and second plug parts detachably connect the first line section and the second line section to one another. The first and second plug parts become detached from one another when the mirror head is folded from the position of use into a folded position and are reconnected automatically when the mirror head is moved back into the position of use.

A plug connection device has a plug housing having at least one contact and a complementary plug having at least one complementary contact. At least one of the plug housing and the complementary plug is moveable relative to the other one in two directions when the plug housing and the complementary plug are inserted into one another. A plug holder is provided in which the plug housing is received. The plug holder has flexible portions to allow compensation movements of the plug holder together with the plug housing relative to the complementary plug to thereby align the plug holder, the plug housing, and the complementary plug with one another for proper insertion and contacting.

Plug connection device, especially for exterior rearview mirrors of motor vehicles

An exterior rearview mirror for vehicles has a mirror base and a mirror head connected to the mirror base so as to be pivotable in a travel direction of the vehicle and in a direction opposite to the travel direction. The mirror base has first and second bearings and the mirror head has first and second bearing elements engaging the first and second bearings, respectively. The first and second bearing elements are configured such that, when the mirror head pivots in the travel direction, the first bearing elements disengage the first bearings and the second bearing elements form a pivot axis within the second bearings and, when the mirror head pivots in the direction opposite the travel direction, the second bearing elements disengage the second bearings and the first bearing elements form a pivot axis within the first bearings.
