Described herein is a computer-implemented method for matching and adjusting pigmentation of a target coating, the method including at least the steps of: retrieving from a formulation database which includes formulas for coating compositions with different pigmentations, one preliminary matching formula; providing a match metric; and by using one or more processors: calculating a match metric value for the preliminary matching formula; and deciding, based on a magnitude of the match metric value, whether the pigmentation is significantly improvable; in the case that the pigmentation is significantly improvable: defining a selection of at least one additional tinting base which might be eligible for further adjusting the preliminary matching formula to the target coating; calculating, for each of the at least one additional tinting base, a match metric value; and issuing, via an output device, a list of eligible additional tinting bases of the at least one additional tinting base.

Method and system for matching and adjusting pigmentation of a sample coating to a target coating

Described herein is a computer-implemented method and a system for providing a match metric for quantifying a spectral similarity of a target coating and at least one sample coating, the system including a computing device that performs a computing process, the computing process including: receiving reflectance values of the target coating and the sample coating; normalizing each of the reflectance values; generating a normalized reflectance curve for the target coating and for the sample coating; producing derivative values of the normalized reflectance curve of the target coating and derivative values of the normalized reflectance curve of the sample coating with respect to the wavelength; producing difference values between the derivative values of the target coating and the derivative values of the sample coating; and producing a match metric for a similarity between the normalized reflectance curves of the target coating and the sample coating.

Method and system for quantifying a spectral similarity between a sample color and a target color

Described herein is an analytical system () for assessing and predicting a performance factor of at least one coating on at least one object with a multiplicity of subunits. The analytical system includes a sensor arrangement () with a multiplicity of sensors, an administrative unit () with at least one processor, and an output unit (). The sensor arrangement is configured to subject the at least one object coated with at least one respective coating to colorimetric measurement by means of the multiplicity of sensors and to provide corresponding measurement data to the administrative unit. The administrative unit is configured to determine respective colorimetric deviations of the at least one coating relative to a corresponding color reference for a multiplicity of subunits of the at least one object, and to output these deviations on the output unit.

Analysis system and method for evaluating and predicting a quality of a coating

Disclosed is a process for determining a plurality of color quality indicators for controlling the color of a coating. Colorimetric coordinates of a color reference and the coating are ascertained for a plurality of coated surface elements using a spectrophotometer at a number of measurement geometries and a number of light sources. For each measurement geometry and each light source, color differences are calculated from the colorimetric coordinates of the color reference and the coating of the plurality of coated surface elements. The respective colorimetric coordinates are normalized with one weighting factor. Each of the plurality of color quality indicators is determined by means of a mapping, of functional values onto a scale value of a predetermined scale. The functional values are determined in each case for the number of measurement geometries and the number of light sources by means of a mathematical relationship.
