The functionality of simulated, virtual hardware units is varied during the execution of a program flow on the virtual hardware units, for example via an interface device of a simulation device, in such a manner that the execution behavior changes of a program flow can be identified by using at least one faulty, physical hardware unit. A method and a device are used for analyzing an execution of a predetermined program flow on a physical computer system. The method and the device are used to determine execution behavior changes of software products which changes are due to faulty hardware components. The method and device allow execution behavior changes to be identified systematically, using an operating system and eliminates the need for expensive, physical hardware components and for modifications to a physical computer system.

Method and device for analyzing an execution of a predetermined program flow on a physical computer system

A programmable operating time period of at least one software unit is changed to a settable operating time period. Furthermore, a testing system for validating the system and for setting the at least one settable operating time period is provided. Furthermore, the system is tested using the testing system, wherein the testing includes varying the at least one settable operating time period for detecting synchronization errors of the system. Thus, a test of a system including software units for synchronization errors is enabled by the targeted change of operating time period.

An embodiment of the present invention discloses a method for the computer-aided determination of the dependencies of a plurality of modules of a technical system, especially of a software system. Every module of the system has a known, first consumption of resources. The first consumption of resources of at least one of the modules is modified according to a predetermined criterion, thereby obtaining a modified system. The modified system is executed. A second consumption of resources is measured for every module of the modified system, the consumption resulting from the modification of the first consumption of resources of the at least one module. An analysis of the second consumption of resources of a respective module and the predetermined criterion is used to determine whether there is a dependency between the respective module and the at least one module that is characterized by the modified consumption of resources.

Method for the computer-aided determination of the dependencies of a plurality of modules of a technical system, especially of a software system

A method is disclosed for the computer-aided determination of the optimization potential of a software system including a plurality of modules that can interact with each other at least to some point during execution of the software system. At least one module to be examined is selected from the plurality of modules, in at least one embodiment, and is examined with respect to the effects of an optimization of the at least one module to be examined on the overall consumption of resources of the software system. A respective consumption of resources of one or more modules not to be examined of the plurality of modules is varied according to at least one predetermined criterion, thereby obtaining a modified software system. The overall consumption of resources of the modified software system is determined taking into consideration the variation of the modules not to be examined. The determined overall consumption of resources of the modified software system is then compared to the overall consumption of resources of the unmodified software system.

Method for the computer-aided determination of an optimization potential of a soft-ware system

In a method and a device for determining requirement parameters of at least one physical hardware unit, the operating parameters of simulated, virtual hardware units are varied during the execution of a program flow on the virtual hardware units, for example via an interface device of a simulation device, in such a manner that requirement parameters of the execution of a program flow of at least one physical hardware unit can be identified. A method and a device are used for determining requirement parameters of at least one physical hardware unit. The method and the device are used to determine requirement parameters of software products of hardware components to be used. Requirement parameters are allowed to be identified systematically, using an operating system and eliminates the need for expensive, physical hardware components and for modifications to a physical computer system.
