A lighting device for a motor vehicle, in particular a high-definition headlamp, includes an imaging component that has an active surface on which light-emitting diodes or laser diodes are arranged in a matrix to generate pixels in a light distribution in a targeted manner, and a projection lens with which the light emitted from the active surface is projected outward from the motor vehicle when the lighting device is in operation. The lighting device is designed to switch the projection lens from a first setting to a second and from the second setting to the first. The projection lens has a first focal length in the first setting, and a second focal length in the second setting, which is greater than the first focal length.

An illumination arrangement includes a control unit, an illumination module connected to the control unit via a bidirectional first channel that features an LED matrix for generating light, and a peripheral module connected to the illumination module via a second channel. The control unit can be used to generate data for controlling the illumination module and for controlling the peripheral module. The data for controlling the illumination module and data for controlling the peripheral module can be transferred to the illumination module via the first channel. The data for controlling the peripheral module can be transferred from the illumination module to the peripheral module via the second channel. The second channel is a bidirectional channel via which data can be transferred from the peripheral module to the illumination module and, after being received by the illumination module, can be transferred to the control unit via the first channel.

Illumination arrangement with an illumination module and a peripheral module connected to the same

An illumination arrangement is provided with a control unit, an illumination module including an LED matrix for the generation of light, and a peripheral module connected to the illumination module. The control unit generates data for controlling the illumination module and for controlling the peripheral module. The data for controlling the illumination module and for controlling the peripheral module is transferred to the illumination module. The data for controlling the peripheral module is transferred to the peripheral module. An RGB signal is generated by the control unit for generating a light pattern by the illumination module, and is transferred to the illumination module. The image data of the RGB signal is the data for controlling the illumination module or at least forms a part of the data for controlling the illumination module, and the RGB signal has a range not used for image data.

Illumination arrangement with a control unit, with an illumination module and a peripheral module

An illumination device for vehicles is provided, and includes a headlamp with an imaging unit for generating a multitude of light pixels that can be actuated individually. The headlamp also includes a lens unit containing a lens arrangement with a number of lenses arranged in a fixed manner to each other. The light pixels of the imaging unit can be mapped to focused light spots at a specified distance. The headlamp also includes an actuator unit for actuating the imaging unit. A first lens unit of a first headlamp is different from a second lens unit of a second headlamp such that the light pixels of the imaging unit of the first headlamp and the second headlamp are mapped to be focused at different distances.

Illumination device for vehicles

A headlamp for vehicles is provided that has an LED light source containing numerous light pixels. The headlamp also includes an optics unit in front of the light source in the main beam direction (H) with which the light pixels are mapped onto a predefined light distribution (LV, LV, LV', LV″). The headlamp also includes a sensor unit for determining at least one vehicle state variable, an adjustment unit for adjusting a part of the headlamp, and a control unit for controlling the light pixels and the adjustment unit. The LED adjustment unit moves the light source in a linear direction transverse to an optical axis (A) of the optics unit, and/or pivoted about the optical axis (A) of the optics unit, from a starting position to an intermediate position and back, on the basis of a change in the vehicle state variable.

Headlights for vehicles and adjustment procedures

A method for operating a lighting apparatus of a vehicle. A temperature of the light source is recorded while the first light distribution is generated, a temperature change of the light source which is expected to emerge during the transition from the first to the second light distribution is calculated. Should the calculation predict that the transition from the first to the second light distribution would rise to an excessive temperature leading to a temperature above a threshold value in at least one critical region, then the power of at least one of the semiconductor elements is reduced during the control of the semiconductor elements implemented for generating the second light distribution, such that the temperature in the at least one critical region of the light source is not expected to exceed the specified threshold value as a result of the transition from the first to the second light distribution.

Method for operating a lighting apparatus of a motor vehicle

An illumination device having a light-emitting diode field and an adjustable current source for each LED. The current source delivers a pulse width modulated current having a pulse height. An open-loop/closed-loop controller is provided for the open-loop/closed-loop control of the brightness of the LEDs. A setpoint value for the pulse height can be produced for the current source. A brightness value can be specified for each LED in accordance with the setpoint value, encoded in a video signal, and provided at a video signal output. The light-emitting diode field has a decoder, which is connected to the video signal input and via which the brightness value can be decoded from the video signal and converted into a duty cycle with which the pulse height can be produced.

Illumination device for a motor vehicle, more particularly high-resolution headlamp

A lighting arrangement with a control unit and two LED lighting modules, each comprising an LED matrix. Control information, including an image signal for generating a light image, can be generated with the control unit for each lighting module, and the light image can be generated with the LED matrix of each lighting module, which the control unit has generated for this lighting module. The control unit is connected to the lighting modules for the transmission of the image signals. The first lighting module has a processing unit and a first interface via which the information for the lighting modules can be extracted from the signal generated by the control unit. The processing unit provides the information intended for the second lighting module at the first interface of the first lighting module, and wherein the second lighting module is connected to the first interface of the first lighting module.

Lighting arrangement with a control unit and two LED lighting modules, each comprising an LED matrix

A headlamp for vehicles is provided with a light source unit a matric of light sources. An optics unit is positioned in front of the light source unit in the main beam direction which focuses the light sources into light spots in a predefined light distribution. The light source unit is positioned at a predefined distance to the light entry surface on the optics unit along an optical axis. An optics element that moves transverse to the optical axis of the light source unit and/or optics unit is placed between the light source unit and a light emission surface of the optics unit. The light spots are in a first position when the adjustable optics element is in a first setting, and the same light spots are offset from the first position along a displacement path when the adjustable optics element is in a second setting.

Headlamp for vehicles

An illumination apparatus for vehicles having a light source, a support plate for receiving the light source, and an optical unit arranged in front of the light source in the main emission direction to deflect light emitted by the light source onto a roadway in front of the vehicle in accordance with a predetermined light distribution. The light source has a light-emitting surface and a light source frame surrounding the same. The light source is surrounded by a shielding frame with a wall that is raised in the main emission direction and encloses an intermediate space between the light source and the optical unit.

Illumination apparatus for vehicles

A process is provided for controlling a headlamp of a motor vehicle. The headlamp includes a first light source module and a second light source module. The light source modules each feature several light sources that emit light. The light emitted by the light sources of the light source module represents a first light distribution, and the light emitted by the light sources of the second light source module represents a second light distribution. The first light distribution and the second light distribution partially overlap. The first light distribution and the second light distribution together form an overall light distribution. A subarea of the overall light distribution is formed only by the first light distribution, and the subarea is a vertical edge area of the overall light distribution.

Process for controlling a headlamp of a motor vehicle

An illumination device having a first and second light module each having a light source and an optical unit for generating a first illumination region and a second illumination region, respectively. A control unit controls the first light module and the second light module, so that a larger number of light pixels are imaged in the first illumination region than in the second illumination region with respect to a surface of equal size, wherein the light pixels of the first light module have a greater illumination intensity than the light pixels of the second light module. The control unit acts upon the light sources of the first light module or the second light module such that the light sources of the first and second light module are each operated with a thermal output within a tolerance band and below a maximum thermal output of the at least one light source.
