A system includes a processor configured to determine available vehicular connectivity options in response to a data transfer request. The processor is further configured to determine a preferred option from the available connectivity options based on previously stored connectivity policies, if multiple connectivity options exist which can be utilized to fulfill the request, and utilize the preferred option to fulfill the request.

Method and apparatus for distributed connectivity vehicle management

A vehicle computer system comprising a wireless transceiver configured to communicate with a mobile device. The vehicle computer system further includes a processor in communication with the wireless transceiver. The processor is configured to transmit a request to the mobile device to activate a voice recognition session of the mobile device, determine an inhibition status of the voice recognition session based feedback to the request, and transmit a resolution instruction relating to a inhibition status of the voice recognition session.

System and method of facilitating communication between a mobile device and vehicle computer system

A voice activated control system responsive to spoken voice commands is integrated with an advanced central display/control unit having dedicated and reconfigurable push buttons to control individual vehicle accessories in a complementary fashion as well as in standalone modes. The two controllers share additional input and output resources including reconfigurable steering wheel switches and a heads-up display showing the current configuration of the steering wheel switches. Thus, a driver can control a plurality of adjustable parameters of a plurality of vehicle accessories with a convenient and easy to use interface which makes efficient use of hardware and reduces costs.
