An RF surgical apparatus and method for operating such an apparatus. The RF surgical apparatus comprises at least two RF generators and at least one neutral electrode output for one neutral electrode. At least two outputs for connecting RF surgical instruments for applying treatment currents to the surgical instruments are provided. Furthermore, a switching device is provided. To enable a simultaneous operation of several RF surgical apparatuses, and not generate any neuromuscular stimulation, a separate generator is provided for each RF surgical instrument and a single neutral electrode is provided for all of the instruments and generators. The switching device is adapted to be arranged in a controlling connection with the RF generators such that the RF generators will never generate, and output to the instruments, any treatment currents at the same time (that is, they output only sequentially).

Radio frequency surgical apparatus

A high-frequency surgical generator including a power supply for supplying rectified electrical energy, a power oscillator for supplying a potential-free, DC current-free and DC voltage-free high frequency voltage and a control device for controlling the high frequency voltage wherein the power supply is configured as a current source for supplying a load-independent output current, such that the load-independent output current of the power supply serves as the control variable for controlling the high-frequency voltage. The target value of the load-independent output current is pre-determined by the control device. The high-frequency surgical generators configured as such achieve improved modulation capability.

HR surgical generator

A high-frequency surgical generator for generating high efficiency outputs that can be operated in resonance over a wide load resistance range. The high-frequency surgical generator includes a first stage circuit for generating high-frequency power and a second stage circuit coupled to the first state circuit. The second stage circuit includes an input and an output and a series resonant circuit located between the input and the output. The second stage circuit further includes an inductor that is switched parallel to the input and a capacitor that is switched parallel to the output.

Soft generator

The invention relates to a high-frequency surgical device for monopolar coagulation of biological tissue using a high-frequency current. The device includes an electrosurgical instrument with a coagulation electrode and a surgical device with a high-frequency generator for generating a high-frequency voltage and for supplying the high-frequency current to the coagulation electrode of the electrosurgical instrument and at least one control device for terminating the coagulation process. A measuring device detects at least one measured value describing a measured tissue introduction of energy into a defined measured tissue area. An arithmetic device determines the measured tissue introduction of energy into the defined measured tissue area and a final value for a target tissue introduction of energy into a target tissue area. The control device regulates the high-frequency generator based on the final value by generating a shut-down signal when the target tissue introduction of energy reaches the final value.

High-frequency surgical device

An electrosurgical instrument for coagulating and/or cutting biological tissue which can be manufactured easily and economically and which allows a surgical intervention to be carried out easily and reliably The instrument includes two linked branches which can be moved toward one another, gripping devices at a proximal region of the branches or of the instrument for bringing the branches together, electrode parts at a distal region of the branches or of the instrument for grasping tissue and for conducting a high-frequency current through the tissue, current feed devices for feeding the high-frequency current to the electrode parts from a high-frequency generator, a switching device for activating the high-frequency current with the branches brought together, at least one spacing element to form a defined minimum spacing between the electrode parts, and at least one elastically deformable element, which is arranged at one of the branches or the gripping devices such that, on closing the branches and reaching the minimum spacing, at least one region of the gripping devices can be moved further in the proximal region for actuating the switching device. The instrument can also be carried out as a shaft instrument, wherein at least one electrode part is movable through a shaft in its extension direction.

Electrosurgical instrument

A plug system for surgical devices includes a plurality of sockets into which connecting plugs of electrosurgical instruments can be inserted, and a switching matrix having a plurality of switches for connecting at least one of the sockets to at least two different outputs or inputs of an electrosurgery device. A control system having a preselection device for controlling the switching matrix is arranged in the plug system. The switching matrix connects predetermined sockets to predetermined inputs or outputs, depending on data input into the preselection device. The control system includes a storage element for storing a basic configuration of a connection between the sockets and the inputs or outputs of the electrosurgery device. The basic configuration is set if no data is entered into the preselection device, and all switches are open in the basic configuration.

Plug system for surgical devices

The invention relates to a neutral electrode for HF surgery and to an electrically conductive gel. The neutral electrode comprises at least one electrically conductive section that can be brought into contact with a section of a patient's body. In order to enable the contact resistance to be reduced in a simple and economical manner, in particular in cases of problematic skin and/or tissue conditions, the neutral electrode comprises circulation-promoting means that enhance blood flow through the section of the body that is in contact with this electrode section. The invention also relates to a conductive gel for application of a neutral electrode to a section of a patient's body that contains capsaicin or similar means for promoting circulation.

Neutral electrode for HF surgery

A method and a measurement apparatus are provided for determining the transition impedance between two electrode parts of a subdivided neutral electrode used in high-frequency surgery. These makes it possible for the purely capacitive component of the transition impedance to be measured. For this purpose a resonant-frequency shift is measured, which occurs when a basic resonant circuit is expanded to an expanded resonant circuit by incorporating the two electrode parts into it in parallel. In particular, in order to determine the basic resonant frequency of the basic resonant circuit and/or the sample resonant frequency of the expanded resonant circuit, the phase shift between current and voltage is measured and the frequency is adjusted until current and voltage are in phase.

Method and measurement apparatus for determining the transition impedance between two parts of a subdivided neutral electrode

A method and a measurement apparatus are provided for determining the transition impedance between two electrode parts of a subdivided neutral electrode used in high-frequency surgery. These make it possible for the purely capacitive component of the transition impedance to be measured. For this purpose a resonant-frequency shift is measured, which occurs when a basic resonant circuit is expanded to an expanded resonant circuit by incorporating the two electrode parts into it in parallel. In particular, in order to determine the basic resonant frequency of the basic resonant circuit and/or the sample resonant frequency of the expanded resonant circuit, the phase shift between current and voltage is measured and the frequency is adjusted until current and voltage are in phase.
