A method is described for measuring workpieces, each having structural features that form test features for measurement. The method determines an unstable one and a stable one of the test features, based on expected violation or satisfaction, respectively, of a statistical control rule. The method measures workpieces such that the unstable test feature is measured more frequently than the stable test feature. The method ascertains whether the unstable test feature remains unstable and whether the stable test feature remains stable. The method measures additional workpieces if the unstable test feature remained unstable and the stable test feature remaining stable. The determining is repeated if the unstable test feature is no longer unstable, the stable test feature is no longer stable, or any other measurement feature changes, such as if a new batch of workpieces is to be measured, environmental conditions change, or measurement has proceeded longer than a predefined threshold.

Method and apparatus for testing workpieces

A computer-assisted method for determining dimensional properties of a measurement object using a coordinate measuring machine. An image representation of the measurement object is shown to a user and the user selects a first geometric element of the measurement object, resulting in the display of eligible test features for the selected first geometric element. The eligible test features are automatically determined from a plurality of typical test features stored in a database, by the selected first geometric element being assigned to one of a plurality of predefined measurement elements stored in the database. A defined measurement sequence is generated in a computer-assisted manner based on the test feature selected by the user. Individual measured values are recorded on the first geometric element using the defined measurement sequence. A numerical value based on the individual measured values is determined, which represents a dimensional property of the first geometric element corresponding to the selected test feature.

Method and device for determining dimensional properties of a measurement object

A coordinate measuring machine comprising an optical sensor for optically capturing a workpiece; an illumination device for illuminating the workpiece; a pose determination unit for determining data relating to a workpiece pose including a position and orientation of the workpiece; a storage unit for storing (i) data relating to a reference pose including a position and orientation of a reference workpiece, and (ii) data relating to a reference light setting of the illumination device used for a measurement of the reference workpiece; and a control unit which is configured to control a light setting of the illumination device for a measurement of the workpiece by adapting the reference light setting based on a comparison of the stored data relating to the reference pose with the determined data relating to the workpiece pose.
