The composition includes a curable fluoropolymer having nitrogen-containing cure sites and a curative including an organo onium cation and an anion represented by Formula (I) or Formula (II). The composition is free of metal cations or has not more than 20 parts per million metal cations and free of silicon dioxide or has less than 0.5 percent by weight silicon dioxide, based on the total weight of the composition. In some cases, the composition consists of the curable fluoropolymer and the curative. Shaped articles including the composition, a fluoroelastomer prepared by curing the composition, a method of making a fluoroelastomer article, and a process for making the composition are also described.

Composition including curable fluoropolymer and curative and methods of making and using them

Described herein is a latex blend comprising (i) an amorphous perfluoropolymer and (ii) an aqueous dispersion of semi crystalline fluoropolymer particles, wherein the particles comprise a TFE homopolymer or a TFE copolymer comprising no more than 1 wt % of a second fluorinated monomer, wherein the semi crystalline fluoropolymer particles (a) have an MFI (372° C. with 2.16 kg) of less than 50 g/10 min or (b) are not melt processible and have an SSG of less than 2.190, wherein the semi crystalline fluoropolymer particles have an average diameter greater than 100 nm.

Latex blends of amorphous perfluorinated polymers and articles derived therefrom

Method of reducing the amount of a fluorinated acid or its salts from a fluoropolymer, the method comprises: (i) providing a composition containing particles of the fluoropolymer, (ii) contacting the fluoropolymer particles with a treatment composition comprising at least one organic liquid; and, optionally, further comprising (iii) isolating, washing and subjecting the fluoropolymer to drying treatment, and wherein the fluoropolymer contains units derived from tetrafluoroethene (TFE) and is selected from the group of fluoroelastomers and the group of fluoropolymers having a melting point of less than 150° C. Also provided are fluoropolymer and compositions containing such polymers that are essentially free of fluorinated acids and their salts.

Peroxide curable fluoropolymers obtainable by polymerization with non-fluorinated emulsifiers

Each X is independently F, H, or Cl; Rand R&#x2032;are each independently F or a monovalent perfluoroalkyl having 1 to 3 carbon atoms; R is F or a partially fluorinated or perfluorinated alkyl having 1 to 3 carbon atoms; R&#x2033;is a divalent fluoroalkylene having 1 to 8 carbon atoms or a divalent fluorinated alkylene ether having 1 to 20 carbon atoms and at least one ether linkage; k is 0 or 1; and n, m, p, and q are each independently an integer from 0 to 5, with the proviso that when k is 0, n+m is at least 1 and p+q is at least 1. A method of making the composition is also provided.

Composition including amorphous fluoropolymer and fluoroplastic particles and methods of making the same

Described are methods of making a curable fluoropolymer having repeating units derived from vinylidenfluoride (VDF) and at least one perfluorinated monomer selected from hexafluoropropene (HFP), tetrafluoroethene (TFE), a perfluorovinyl ether (PAVE), a perfluoroallylether (PAAVE) or a combination thereof. The method includes polymerizing the monomers in an aqueous medium in a radical reaction containing one or more reaction initiators, one or more chain transfer agent containing one or more halogens selected from iodine, bromine or a combination thereof and one or more non-fluorinated aliphatic polyhydroxy emulsifiers. The polymerization is carried out without adding a fluorinated emulsifier. Also provided are curable fluoropolymers obtainable by such methods and cured fluoropolymers obtainable by curing the curable fluoropolymers, and their applications.

Described herein is a peroxide curable, highly fluorinated elastomer derived from (a) a fluorinated di-iodo ether compound of the following formula I: R&#x2014;CF(I)&#x2014;(CX)&#x2014;(CXCXR)&#x2014;O&#x2014;R&#x2033;f-O&#x2014;(CXR'CX)&#x2014;(CX)&#x2014;CF(I)&#x2014;R&#x2032;wherein X is independently selected from F, H, and Cl; Rand R&#x2032;are independently selected from F and a monovalent perfluoroalkane having 1-3 carbons; R is F, or a partially fluorinated or perfluorinated alkane comprising 1-3 carbons; R&#x2033;is a divalent fluoroalkylene having 1-5 carbons or a divalent fluorinated alkylene ether having 1-8 carbons and at least one ether linkage; k is 0 or 1; and n, m, and p are independently selected from an integer from 0-5, with the proviso that when k is 0, n+m is at least 1 and p+q is at least 1; and (b) a fluorinated monomer.

Described herein is a method of making a fluoropolymer and fluoropolymers thereof, wherein the method comprises: (a) providing an aqueous solution comprising a water soluble polyiodide salt of Formula (I): M[I&#x2014;I&#x2014;(I)]wherein M is a cation group having a valence y, y is an integer of at least 1 and n is an integer of at least 1; and (b) initiating polymerization of a monomer in the aqueous solution, wherein the monomer is a fluorinated monomer.
