A light-emitting diode (LED) die can include a p-n junction between a p-doped semiconductor material and an n-doped semiconductor material. The LED die can include vias that can electrically power the p-n junction. The vias can optionally be electrically connected in parallel to one another. A controller can supply current to the vias to electrically power the LED die. The vias can be distributed with a density that peaks at or near a center of the LED die and decreases with increasing distances away from the peak of the density, such that when the vias are electrically powered, the LED die emits light with a surface luminance that peaks at or near the center of the LED die and decreases with increasing distances away from the peak of the surface luminance.

A gas sensing system measures a concentration of a gas sample having an absorption peak at a first wavelength. An emitter emits light having a spectrum that includes at least the first wavelength. A sensor detects at least some of the light emitted by the emitter. A porous scattering material is substantially transparent at the first wavelength and scatters at least some of the light. A surface of the porous scattering material opposing the emitter and the sensor has a depression. The emitter and the sensor are laterally and vertically separated by a separator filling the depression. The separator specularly or diffusively reflects the light emitted by the emitter.

A lighting device includes a carrier having at least one section that has a triangular cross section. The carrier includes at least one mounting portion on an edge of the triangular cross section, and a heat sink body portion adjacent to, and protruding sidewards from, the at least one mounting portion. At least one structure is mounted to the at least one mounting portion. The at least one structure includes at least one mounting face having an arrangement direction. The at least one lighting module is mounted along the arrangement direction on the at least one mounting face. The at least one light guide is optically coupled to the at least one lighting module.

Support structures and lighting systems including the support structure and a lighting device are described. A support structure includes an inner housing portion, an outer housing portion and connection members. The inner housing portion is transparent and has at least one portion shaped to conform to the lighting device. The outer housing portion includes at least a bottom wall, a first side wall and a second side wall, each having reflective inner surfaces, to form a container. The connection members are transparent and mechanically connected between the inner housing portion and the outer housing portion to support the inner housing portion and divide a region of the container between the inner housing portion and the outer housing portion into first cavities, each enclosed by at least one of the bottom wall, the first side wall or the second side wall and at least one of the connection members.

The invention describes a passive matrix single-color LED display assembly comprising a matrix of row conductor lines and column conductor lines; an array of direct-emitting LED packages, wherein the anode of each LED package is electrically connected to one of the row conductor lines and the cathode of that LED package is connected to one of the column conductor lines; and a driver configured to apply a bias voltage to a row conductor line and to apply a bias voltage to a column conductor line according to an image to be displayed.

The invention describes a method of manufacturing an LED carrier assembly, which method comprises the steps of providing a carrier comprising a mounting surface with mounting pads arranged to receive a number of LED dies; embedding an alignment magnet in the carrier; providing a number of LED dies, wherein an LED die comprises a number of magnetic die pads; and aligning the magnetic die pads to the mounting pads by arranging the LED dies over the mounting surface of the carrier within magnetic range of the alignment magnet. A method for producing a flexible lighting strip comprising multitude of functional elements, which are light-emitting diodes, comprise light-emitting diodes, or are interposers with light-emitting diodes. The functional elements are in at least two groups, each comprising at least two functional elements in electrical series connection. The groups are in an electrical circuit having at least an anode and a cathode track as outer lines. The functional elements are in an electrical parallel connection to the anode and cathode tracks. The groups are in a longitudinal arrangement so a first group's last functional element is next to a second group's first functional element. Each of the outer lines has a wire line having substantially circular wires that are bent building zones capable of receiving compressive and tensile stress. The electrical circuit provides a third wire line having a substantially circular wire as a center line arranged between the outer lines.

The present disclosure relates to a lighting device comprising light-emitting elements such as light-emitting diodes arranged on a substrate. The object to provide a lighting device comprising multiple light-emitting elements and light guides, wherein the thermal sensitivity of the lighting device is reduced in a particularly simple manner, is solved in that the lighting device comprises: a lens with a light entry side and a light exit side; light guides, each light guide being arranged in optical contact to at least one of the light-emitting elements and being configured to guide light emitted by the at least one of the light-emitting elements towards the light entry side of the lens; and a transparent stabilizer element being arranged in mechanical contact to the light exit side of the lens, wherein the transparent stabilizer element is configured to define the shape of the light exit side of the lens at least in regions. A flexible lighting strip comprises a multitude of light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and is arranged to bend around at least two, preferably three, linear independent axes. The LEDs are arranged in at least two groups, wherein each group comprises at least two LEDs arranged in an electrical series connection. The groups are arranged in an electrical parallel connection to an anode and cathode track. The groups are arranged in a longitudinal arrangement such that a last LED of a first group is arranged next to the first LED of a second group, and are mechanically coupled via an electrically isolated coupling structure such that a stiffness of the flexible lighting strip between the last LED of the first group and the first LED of the second group is matched to a mechanical stiffness between neighboring LEDs comprised by one of the first or second.

Method of manufacturing an OLED device

The invention relates to an optical arrangement including LED lighting elements arranged on a support surface. An optical axis X extends from the support surface. A first collimator unit includes at least one support element and first collimator elements. The support element is supported on the support surface between at least two of the LED lighting elements. The first collimator elements are arranged in front of the LED lighting elements in the direction of the optical axis X to collimate light emitted from the LED lighting elements. A second collimator unit is arranged in front of the first collimator unit in the direction of the optical axis X. The second collimator unit includes second collimator elements arranged in front of the first collimator elements to collimate light emitted therefrom.

Optical arrangement with improved stability

Lighting devices and methods of manufacture are described. A lighting device includes first wires and second wires. Each of the first wires has a first longitudinal axis and a bent section. Each of the second wires has a second longitudinal axis and a bent section. The first wires and the second wires intersect one another within intersection regions. The first longitudinal axis and the second longitudinal axis are in the same plane. The bent section of each of the first wires is arranged in one of the intersection regions. The bent section of each of the second wires is arranged between two intersection regions. A predefined minimum distance is provided between the first wires and the second wires in the intersection regions. The lighting device further includes light-emitting elements electrically coupled to the first wires and the second wires at the intersection regions.

A lighting device comprises at least one LED element for emitting light into an emission direction. A bendable light guide is arranged to guide light emitted from the LED element. The bendable light guide comprises at least a first portion formed of an elastic, light transmitting light guide material covering at least the emission direction of the LED element, and a second portion formed of an elastic, light transmitting light guide material. In order to be able to function under varying environmental conditions, the second portion is arranged spaced from the first portion in the emission direction by a separation space.

Reducing thermal sensitivity of a lighting arrangement

A lighting arrangement and a method for manufacturing the lighting arrangement are provided. The lighting arrangement has a holder to carry an optical element above a LED lighting element. The holder has an optical sub-holder and a connecting sub-holder connecting the optical sub-holder with a support member, where the LED lighting element is arranged on. The optical sub-holder has at least one stress release element dividing the optical sub-holder in one or more outer parts connected to the connecting sub-holder and a main part carrying the optical element, where a mechanical connection between the main part and the one or more outer parts is weakened by the stress release element extending through the optical sub-holder to enable the one or more outer parts to deform freely in case of thermal stress while maintaining the main part closer to the desired position compared to the one or more outer parts.
