A system and a method for single-shot compressed optical-streaking ultra-high-speed imaging, the system comprising a spatial encoding module spatially encoding the transient event with a binary pseudo-random pattern into spatially encoded frames; a galvanometer scanner temporally shearing the spatially encoded frames; and a CMOS camera receiving the temporally sheared spatially encoded frames, during one exposure time of the camera, for reconstructing the transient event. The method comprises spatial encoding a transient event; temporal shearing resulting spatially encoded frames of the event, spatio-temporal integration, and reconstruction.

A method and a system method for real-time wide-field dynamic temperature sensing of an object, the method comprising producing wide-field illumination to upconverting nanoparticles at the object plane, collecting a light emitted by the upconverting nanoparticles, dividing a collected light into a reflected component and a transmitted component, imaging the reflected component into a first image, imaging the transmitted component into a second image; processing the images; and reconstruction of the object from resulting proceed images.

Method and system for real-time wide-field dynamic temperature sensing

A method and a system for determining material-, size-, and morphology-dependent photothermal properties of particles dispersed in solutions, the method comprising using coherently detected pulsed THz radiation, tracking a temperature-dependent refractive index change of the particles dispersion in time and space, and correlating the temperature-dependent refractive index change of the particles dispersion in time and space to temperature values. A system comprises a source of electromagnetic radiation; a THz emitter; a THz detector; and a vessel containing a dispersion of particles, wherein the source of electromagnetic radiation is configured to emit electromagnetic radiation to excite the particles in the dispersion; the THz emitter is configured to send THz radiation to the vessel and the THz detector is configured to receives THz radiation returned by from the vessel.

Method and system for determination of photothermal properties of particles

The present invention relates to a method of preparing lanthanide-doped NaYFnanocrystals, the method comprising: (A) providing a first solution comprising a non-coordinating solvent, a fatty acid coordinating ligand, sodium trifluoroacetate, yttrium trifluoroacetate, a first doping lanthanide trifluoroacetate and a second doping lanthanide trifluoroacetate, and a second solution comprising the non-coordinating solvent and the fatty acid coordinating ligand, the first and second solutions being substantially free of water and oxygen; (B) in an inert atmosphere, slowly adding the first solution heated at a temperature between about 100&#xb0; C. and about 150&#xb0; C. to the second solution heated at temperature between about 290&#xb0; C. and about 330&#xb0; C., thereby producing a reaction mixture containing the nanocrystals; and (C) recovering the nanocrystals from the reaction mixture. The invention also relates to lanthanide-doped uniformly shaped cubic NaYFnanocrystals having an average particle size of at most about 50 nm with a standard deviation of at most about 15%. Finally, the invention also relates to methods of (A) identifying or authenticating a product, (B) labelling an analyte, (C) detecting an analyte, and (D) producing a light source for the telecommunication industry using the above nanocrystals.
