An apparatus for automatically measuring the internal and external profile of pipes () at the ends thereof is described, wherein sensors () measure for each angle of rotation of their support () the distance of the corresponding profile, there being provided means for regulating in height the axis of rotation of said support, which is rotatably mounted on a slide () slidable in a direction parallel to the axis (X-X) of the pipe to be measured. The measuring system also comprises the processing of the detected data in order to attribute a classification code to the end of the measured pipe.

The invention relates to a rolling stand of the type with crossed rolls, for flat products, which comprises at least two working rolls opposed to one another. These rolls are angularly adjustable and such an adjustment is effected by rotating them about a vertical axis of the stand. Advantageously, the actuators which serve to maintain the working rolls at a predetermined distance from one another following to the thickness of the material to be rolled, are solid with the rotations of the rolls themselves: in this way the stresses which the rolls transmit to the actuators during rolling are independent of their angular adjustment and are therefore always balanced.

The inventive relates to a rolling unit (5) for rolling rod-shaped or tubular bodies, such as pipes, hollow sections bars, wires etc. The unit (5) is provided with three or more working rolls (20) which have respective rotation axes (A1, A2, A3) lying in a perpendicular plane to a rolling axis (L) along which the unit (5) is disposed. Advantageously, the rolls (20) are mounted on corresponding swinging arms arranged to oscillate in respective planes, perpendicular to the rotation axes (A1, A2, A3) of the corresponding rolls (20) and containing the rolling axis (L). Such a rolling unit can prevent any uncontrolled thermal expansions induced in the swinging arm by the high temperatures sometimes involved in the process, by keeping the rolls in a symmetrical position with respect to the plane of oscillation of the respective arm.

A rolling stand includes a roller-carrier substantially in the form of a ring-shaped body having the rollers journalled on its interior; the roller-carrier is slidable along a longitudinal rolling axis L between an operative position occupied during the rolling process, where it is locked inside an outer structure of the rolling stand, and a non-operative position where it is removed from the structure. Provided within the rolling stand are guide means for guiding the roller-carrier movement along the axis L and means of locking the roller-carrier in the operative position.

Equipment for transferring pipes from one roller track to an adjacent parallel roller track includes at least two transfer units, each of which comprises a pipe chute extending transversely to the roller tracks and movable angularly between a lowered position below the tracks and a raised position above the tracks. A combined support and guide for the mandrel of a continuous rolling mill comprises a support structure carrying three levers pivotally mounted on respective pins supported parallel to, equidistant from and equiangularly spaced around the horizontal rolling axis of the mill, each lever carrying a respective roller, freely rotatable thereon about an axis which intersects the lever pivot axis, the roller axes lying in a common vertical plane.
