A flooring arrangement for an aircraft cabin and an aircraft with the flooring arrangement. The flooring arrangement at least one insulating layer for insulating the cabin; a wire mesh disposed above the at least one insulating layer; a carpet layer disposed above the wire mesh, the carpet layer and the wire mesh being in electrically conductive contact; and at least one resistive element connected to the wire mesh, the wire mesh being structured and arranged for being electrically connected to a conductive structure of the aircraft via the at least one resistive element. The resistive element allows transmission, from the wire mesh to the conductive structure, of electrostatic charges developed on the carpet layer, and impedes transmission, from the conductive structure to the wire mesh, of high current events experienced by the aircraft.

Flooring arrangement for an aircraft

Assemblies, apparatus, devices and methods useful in providing lightning protection of avionic components associated with aircraft antennas are disclosed. Aspects of the present disclosure may be used on aircraft comprising structural elements made from composite materials having a relatively low electrical conductivity. An exemplary assembly disclosed comprises: an antenna secured to a structural element of the aircraft and configured to receive wireless signals and/or transmit wireless signals external to the aircraft; a communication unit operatively connected to the antenna for signal transmission between the antenna and the communication unit; and an isolation transformer electrically disposed between the antenna and the communication unit where signal transmission between the antenna and the communication unit is conducted via the isolation transformer.

Lightning protection for aircraft antenna avionics

Methods and apparatus for non-destructive inspection using microwave microscopy are disclosed. In one embodiment, a method for inspecting an electrically-conductive mesh in a composite component using microwave microscopy comprises generating radio-frequency electromagnetic radiation using a microwave microscopy probe disposed adjacent the composite component so that the radio-frequency electromagnetic radiation interacts with the electrically-conductive mesh in the composite component, and, detecting a characteristic associated with the microwave microscopy probe. The detected characteristic is indicative of a condition of the electrically-conductive mesh.

Apparatus and methods for non-destructive inspection using microwave microscopy

A fuel pipe for an aircraft having a wall made of a material including a matrix composed of an epoxy copolymer obtained through the reaction of a resin of the bisphenol A diglycidyl ether type with an amine hardener, and from 3 to 5% of an organically modified nanoclay by weight of the epoxy copolymer, the nanoclay including layered magnesium aluminum silicate platelets, and reinforcing fibers embedded in the matrix. In one example, the resin is a bisphenol A epichlorohydrin based resin, a phenol, 4,40-(1-methylethylidene) bis-polymer with (chloromethyl) oxirane; the nanoclay is provided in a 4% weight proportion to the epoxy copolymer, and is a montmorillonite; the amine hardener is an amidoamine.
