The invention provides a lighting controller arranged for controlling a lighting device in response to a presence detected within a detection radius of a presence sensor; characterized in that the lighting controller is configured to: determine a current lighting status of the lighting device indicative of whether the lighting device provides a lighting characteristic; determine a current presence detection status indicative of whether the presence is detected within an initial detection radius of the presence sensor; adapt the initial detection radius of the presence sensor to an adapted detection radius in which a presence is to be detected based on the current lighting status of the lighting device and the current presence detection status. The invention further provides a system comprising said lighting controller, a presence sensor and a lighting device.

Lighting controller

A system () for supplying sustenance to animals is provided, comprising a sustenance unit (), a light source () configured to illuminate the sustenance unit, and a sensor arrangement () configured to detect a movement of the sustenance unit, a position of an animal in proximity to the sustenance unit, a motion of an animal in proximity to the sustenance unit, and a sound of an animal in proximity to the sustenance unit. The system further comprises a processor configured to compare the detected motion with a predetermined motion associated with an activity of the animal, and to determine an activity of the animal based on the detected position, motion and/or sound of the animal. The system is configured to, via the processor, control the light source based on the detected movement of the sustenance unit and/or the determined activity of the animal.

Radar-based motion detection systems are widely used in smart home, smart building, and smart city area for automatic control. In this invention, methods, subsystem, systems, computer program are disclosed to achieve power reduction of a radar sensor by operating the radar sensor in a sub-sampling manner in an illumination control system. By combining the information related to the detection area and the state of a lighting device, the sampling frequency of a radar sensor is configured according the user scenario. A balance between power reduction and motion detection performance is achieved therefrom.

Some embodiments are directed to a motion detector () configured to signal-process a motion signal to obtain multiple motion components, a motion component being correlated with a direction and velocity of a motion in the environment, cancel in motion components, two motion components that correspond to motions with opposite directions, and detect motion in the environment from the motion components that are not cancelled.

Some embodiments are directed to a motion detector configured to classify an environment as quiet or motion. The motion detector is configured to estimate if the frequency bins in a motion signal correspond to a motion source in the environment or to a noise source in the environment. Motion detector, a luminaire, a corresponding method

A multi-view display is switchable between single view and multi-view modes, and uses lenticular means () arranged over the display panel which comprise birefringent electro-optic material () adjacent a non-switchable optically transparent layer (). The non-switchable optically transparent layer () has a refractive index (n) substantially equal to the extra ordinary refractive index of the birefringent electro-optic material (). In the single view mode, the birefringent electro-optic material () defines a non-switched state, and the polarization () of the light output from the display panel and incident on the lenticular means is linear and aligned with the optical axis of the birefringent electro-optic material () at the surface where the display output light is received. In the multi-view mode, the birefringent electro-optic material () defines a switched state in which the optical axis is aligned perpendicularly to the display output surface.

Multi-view display device

A microwave sensor device is for detecting activity and for sending and/or receiving a communications signal to/from a second microwave sensor device. A microwave transceiver is used for transmitting a microwave transmit signal and for receiving a microwave receive signal. For motion detection, the microwave receive signal is a reflected version of the microwave transmit signal and the signals are processed to identify first signal characteristics. For communication, the microwave transmit signal is a communications signal for detection at another sensor device. The transmit and microwave receive signals are processed to identify second characteristics. This sensor device detects motion and also transmits and/or receives a communications signal using the same transceiver. In particular, the communications signal is designed to be detected by a remote sensor device in the same way as for motion detection.

The light spreading elements () have different light beam widening characteristics, the light beam widening characteristics of each light spreading element () of said light spreading elements () depending on the position of the light spreading element () relative to the focal point (F). The light spreading elements () are adapted to spread light striking the light spreading elements () in a first plane (M) including the optical axis (OA). The invention provides an autostereoscopic display device having an adjuster for adjusting the direction of a light beam (). The adjuster () has an off-state and on-state and comprises a stack () of layers. The stack () comprises a first solid material layer () having a first optic axis (), a second solid material layer () having a second optic axis (), and switchable birefringent twisted nematic liquid crystal material () or chiral nematic liquid crystal material. Further, the stack includes a first interface () between the first solid material layer () and birefringent material () and a second interface () between the second solid material layer () and birefringent material (). In the off-state, the birefringent material () at the first interface () is configured to have an optic axis parallel to the first optic axis () and the birefringent material () at the second interface () is configured to have an optic axis parallel to the second optic axis (). In the on-state, the birefringent material () at the first interface () is configured to have an optic axis perpendicular to the first optic axis () and the birefringent material () at the second interface () is configured to have an optic axis perpendicular to the second optic axis ().

Multiview display device

An optical arrangement having at least a lens mode in which the optical arrangement is a lens arrangement having an array () of lenticular lenses () each of which has a particular lens surface shape such that, when tracing rays through a lenticular lens after they have entered one side of the lenticular lens, there exists at least one ray that hits the lenticular lens surface perpendicularly. This arrangement gives reduced banding and loss of intensity at steep angles when used in an autostereoscopic display.
