A partial-resonant converter is provided herein and comprises a partial resonant link formed by a magnetizing link inductor connected in parallel with a first capacitor on a primary winding side of a transformer and a second capacitor on a secondary winding side of the transformer, a pair of series connected switches coupled across the magnetizing link inductor and the first capacitor, and a plurality of forward conducting bidirectional blocking switches that connect an input source and an output load to the magnetizing link inductor during operation.

Partial-resonant converters for PV applications

Employed location techniques may include providing a signal, having components to be located sense the signal and report back the sensed signal, and determining relative locations for one or more of the components using the sensed signals reported by the components.

Remote array mapping

Employed location techniques may include providing a cycling signal, having components to be located sense the cycling signal at the same time, report back the sensed signal, and determining relative locations for one or more of the components using the sensed signals reported by the components.

An inverter includes a transformer that includes a first winding, a second winding, and a third winding, a DC-AC inverter electrically coupled to the first winding of the transformer, a cycloconverter electrically coupled to the second winding of the transformer, an active filter electrically coupled to the third winding of the transformer. The DC-AC inverter is adapted to convert the input DC waveform to an AC waveform delivered to the transformer at the first winding. The cycloconverter is adapted to convert an AC waveform received at the second winding of the transformer to the output AC waveform having a grid frequency of the AC grid. The active filter is adapted to sink and source power with one or more energy storage devices based on a mismatch in power between the DC source and the AC grid.

Converter topologies and control

Systems, methods, and articles of manufacture are provided wherein inverter topologies and inverter control employ primary and secondary windings with a half-bridge circuit and an unfolding bridge circuit positioned between the second winding and an AC grid. Certain topologies may employ control circuits for controlling the bridges suitable for a phase angle of the AC grid.

A method, system, and computer-readable medium facilitate a soft switching technique for operating an inverter. In a full bridge inverter, a one of first set of transistors in the inverter may be rapidly activated and deactivated in pulses while one of a second set of transistor may be activated during a switching time period where the inverter matches the voltage and frequency of an AC grid. During a blanking time period between switching time periods, one of the second set of transistors may be primed before the other is activated during the next switching time period to prevent generating noise in the AC output of the inverter due to a hard switch.

Soft switching technique for a grid-tied inverter

An inverter includes a three-winding transformer, a DC-AC inverter electrically coupled to the first winding of the transformer, a cycloconverter electrically coupled to the second winding of the transformer, and an active filter electrically coupled to the third winding of the transformer. The DC-AC inverter is adapted to convert the input DC waveform to an AC waveform delivered to the transformer at the first winding. The cycloconverter is adapted to convert an AC waveform received at the second winding of the transformer to the output AC waveform having a grid frequency of the AC grid. The active filter is adapted to sink and source power with one or more energy storage devices based on a mismatch in power between the DC source and the AC grid. At least two of the DC-AC inverter, the cycloconverter, or the active filter are electrically coupled via a common reference electrical interconnect.
