An apparatus including an expandable body; at least one delivery cannula coupled to an exterior portion of the expandable body; a needle having a protuberance thereon disposed in a lumen of the at least one delivery cannula; a stop disposed in the lumen of the at least one delivery cannula at a position distal to the protuberance on the needle. A method including positioning a catheter assembly including at least one needle delivery device disposed in an at least one delivery cannula, the at least one delivery cannula having an exit end; modifying the shape of the catheter assembly to modify the orientation of the exit end of the at least one delivery cannula at a region of interest; and advancing the at least one needle delivery device beyond the exit end of the at least one delivery cannula according to a controlled orientation.

Needle catheter

A catheter device having an elongated tubular member with a proximal end and a distal end, and a needle disposed near the distal end. In one embodiment, the needle has a rigid, penetrating tip coupled to a flexible portion by an overlapping joint. The flexible portion enables the needle to bend to a penetrating angle relative to the distal end of the elongated tubular member and penetrate a body tissue without kinking.

Flexible polymer needle catheter

Methods and apparatus for delivering a treatment agent through a percutaneous delivery apparatus are herein disclosed. In some embodiments, an apparatus can include an expandable body with at least one delivery cannula having a lumen therethrough coupled to an exterior portion of the expandable body. The expandable body can be coupled to a delivery assembly with a hub. The delivery cannula can house at least one needle with a protuberance on a distal end. A portion of the hub can house at least one needle with a protuberance on a proximal end. In some embodiments, the protuberance (proximal or distal) can direct the orientation of the needle during an application of treatment agent. In some embodiments, the delivery cannula can include at least one stop for controlling the movement of the needle during an application of treatment agent. In some embodiments, a sheath can be disposed around the delivery cannula.

Modified needle catheter for directional orientation delivery

A catheter balloon formed of a polymeric material such as expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE) bonded to a second layer formed of a low tensile set polymer and/or impregnated with a low tensile set polymer. In a presently preferred embodiment, the low tensile set polymer is a silicone-polyurethane copolymer elastomer or a diene polymer elastomer. The low tensile set polymer has high strength, low modulus, high elongation, and low tensile set. The diene or silicone-polyurethane has a low tensile set, which facilitates deflation of the balloon to a low profile deflated configuration. One aspect of the invention provides improved attachment of the diene to the ePTFE. In one embodiment, the second layer is formed of a diene mixed with a bonding promoter such as a vulcanizing agent which is covalently bonded to the diene.

A method of making a catheter balloon or other expandable tubular medical device or component thereof formed of a compacted porous polymeric material, in which a tube of porous polymeric material is axially compacted, preferably without increasing the outer diameter of the tube, by positioning heat shrink material on the porous polymeric tube and heating the heat shrink material to decrease the length and diameter of the heat shrink material.

Method of making an expandable medical device formed of a compacted porous polymeric material

A method and system for forming a medical device component having a section with a reduced wall thickness, and the device component formed thereby. The method generally comprises rotating a medical device component while a material removal device is placed into contact with a section of the rotating component, to thereby remove material therefrom. In one embodiment, the medical device component is a catheter balloon in which at least one of the proximal and distal shaft sections of the balloon is thinned according to the method of the invention. In another embodiment, the component is a polymeric tube, including polymeric tubes useful in forming a distal tip or catheter shaft section of a catheter.
