The methods can include obtaining pressure measurements from first and second instruments positioned within a vessel of a patient while the second instrument is moved longitudinally through the vessel from a first position to a second position and the first instrument remains stationary within the vessel; and outputting a visual representation of the pressure measurements obtained by the first and second instruments on a display, the output visual representation including a graphical display of a pressure ratio of the obtained pressure measurements and at least a portion of a pressure waveform of the obtained pressure measurements identifying a diagnostic period utilized in calculating the pressure ratio.

Disclosed is a medical imaging system, including a processor circuit configured for communication with an x-ray imaging device movable relative to a patient and an intravascular catheter or guidewire sized and shaped for positioning within a blood vessel of the patient, wherein the processor circuit is configured to receive a first angiographic image of a first length of the vessel and a second angiographic image of a second length of the vessel, wherein the first image is obtained at a first position and the second angiographic image is obtained at a second position. The processor is further configured to generate a roadmap image of a combined length of the blood vessel by combining the first image and the second image, and to receive intravascular data associated with the blood vessel, and to co-register the intravascular data to corresponding locations in the roadmap image; and output the roadmap image and a graphical representation of the intravascular data at the corresponding locations in the roadmap image.

An intravascular system includes at least one pressure-sensing instrument sized and shaped for introduction into a vessel of a patient; a processing unit in communication with the pressure-sensing instrument, the processing unit configured to: obtain proximal pressure measurements for at least one cardiac cycle of the patient while the pressure-sensing instrument is positioned proximal of a stenosis of the vessel; obtain distal pressure measurements while the pressure-sensing instrument is positioned distal of the stenosis; select a diagnostic window within a cardiac cycle by identifying a change in sign of a slope associated with the proximal and/or distal pressure measurements, wherein the diagnostic window encompasses only a portion of the cardiac cycle of the patient; calculate a pressure ratio between the distal and proximal obtained during the diagnostic window; and output the calculated pressure ratio to a display device in communication with the processing unit.

The invention generally relates to medical imaging systems that instantly and/or automatically detect borders. Embodiments of the invention provide an imaging system that automatically detects a border at a location within a vessel in response only to navigational input moving the image to that location. In some embodiments, systems and methods of the invention operate such that when a doctor moves an imaging catheter to a new location with in tissue, the system essentially instantly finds, and optionally displays, the border(s), calculates an occlusion, or both.

The medical processing unit is configured to receive radiographic images obtained by the radiographic imaging source, track the intravascular instrument within the radiographic images while the intravascular instrument is moved longitudinally within the body lumen, calculate a movement speed based on the tracking, compare the calculated movement speed to a predefined target movement speed, generate a speed-adjustment suggestion based on the comparison, and output the speed-adjustment suggestion to a display for review by a user.

The present disclosure relates generally to the imaging of blood vessels, and in particular, to the detection of one or more borders of a blood vessel. In some embodiments, a medical imaging system is configured to detect a primary border of a blood vessel and one or more alternative borders of the blood vessel. For example, in some embodiments, a medical imaging system includes an imaging device configured to obtain an image of a blood vessel, a processing unit, and a user display. The processing unit can be configured to receive the image of the blood vessel and perform an analysis of the image to identify a primary candidate border and an alternative candidate border of the blood vessel. The primary candidate border and alternative candidate border can represent candidates for a single boundary of the blood vessel.
