A system and method detects falling incidents on structures such as cruise vessels, oil rigs, overpasses, and buildings, and also detects overboarding movements onto structures such as cargo ships. The system includes at least two opposed imaging devices which record video streams of a detection cuboid within an overlapping region of view volumes for the imaging devices. The imaging devices monitor objects that pass through the cuboid. Identified objects within the video streams are paired, their conformance is determined, and real-world information such as size, trajectory, and location is determined.

System and method for object falling and overboarding incident detection

A system and method for detecting a man overboard incident on structures such as cruise vessels and oil rigs. The system includes at least two opposed imaging devices which record video streams of a detection cuboid within an overlapping region of view volumes for the imaging devices. The imaging devices are located at the lowest deck of the structure and monitor a fall that passes through the cuboid. Identified objects within the video streams are paired, their conformance is determined, and real world information such as size, trajectory, and location is determined.

Method and apparatus for counting vehicles at entrances, exits and transition zones of multi-story carparks, including particularly where the ceiling heights can be just marginally higher than the tallest expected vehicle, with a view to determine the carpark occupancy at different carpark levels by counting passing vehicles using a vision-based car counting system without relying on viewing test patterns or employing a blocking beam scheme and yet tolerating vehicles transgressing partially or fully into the wrong lane of a two-lane two-way road while ignoring vehicles moving opposite to the expected direction. Without imposing additional constraints to ambient carpark illumination, the methodology copes with highly specular vehicle surfaces, ignores non-vehicular objects and detects moving cast shadow or highlight, and adapts to daily and seasonal scene changes, and yet estimates vehicle speed.

Vision-based car counting for multi-story carparks

A method for constructing a georeferencing-enabled camera model and its deployment in georeferencing targets located in video sequences due to a single video camera. A video surveillance camera is modeled by a collection of rays converging at a virtual camera point and the retina resolution cell coordinates associated with those rays wherein the ray equations are first established, in the course of a calibration process, for a given camera view, with the aid of other views of the same video surveillance camera, as necessary, and using such a model for mapping image coordinates to terrain coordinates and vice versa in the intended view or its adaptation for use in other views of the same video surveillance camera.
