Methods, systems and apparatuses configured to isolate and/or damp vibration of refrigerant lines caused by, for example, the compressor are disclosed. A vibration control device can be configured hold a refrigerant line at a position that is away from the compressor. The vibration control device can help isolate the vibration, reducing or preventing the vibration from passing the vibration control device along the refrigerant line. A vibration-damping device can be configured to engage the refrigerant line so as to absorb/damp the vibration of the refrigerant line.

Methods and systems to reduce damage caused by vibration

Apparatuses and methods to attenuate acoustic waves are provided. The method may include shifting the phases of a plurality of portions of the acoustic waves and merging the portions of the acoustic waves after phase shifting. Because, for example, the phases of the acoustic waves may be out-of-sync when being merged, the acoustic waves may be attenuated. A muffler incorporating the method of attenuating acoustic waves can include a plurality of acoustic paths, each of which may have different acoustic impedance and/or length. The acoustic paths may help the acoustic waves have out-of-sync phases after the acoustic waves passing through the acoustic paths, resulting in acoustic wave attenuation.

Methods and apparatuses to attenuate acoustic waves

A multi-stage low pressure drop muffler for a compressor including a first plate having a hole, a tube attached to the first plate, a plurality of holes disposed around the circumference of the tube, a plurality of tubes extending through a second plate, and an internal ring disposed on the second plate between the center of the second plate and the plurality of tubes. The muffler is designed to muffle a wide range of frequencies, minimize pressure reduction, improve fluid flow, and improve compressor efficiency.

Multi-stage low pressure drop muffler

A sound-abating flow disruptor quiets a PTAC refrigerant system by disturbing the airflow between an energized electric heater and an adjacent fan wheel. In some embodiments, the flow disruptor is a perforated metal plate that attenuates a whistle, which appears to be caused by vortex shedding in the confined area between the energized heater and the fan. In some cases, the heater comprises selectively energizable heating elements of various wattage. The heating elements closest to the fan wheel are the lower wattage ones to minimize the heat near the fan.
