The invention relates to a fuel injector (), comprising a nozzle body () in which a blind hole () is formed, wherein at least one injection opening () leads off same, comprising a nozzle needle (to) that is reciprocatingly movable along a longitudinal axis (), wherein the nozzle needle (-) has a valve seat () which forms a sealing seat () with a seating surface () in the nozzle body () in a lowered position of the nozzle needle (-), and comprising at least one borehole (-) in the nozzle needle (-), wherein at least some portions of a borehole inlet () of the at least one borehole (-) are located in the region of the seating surface () when the sealing seat () is formed, and a borehole outlet () of the at least one borehole (-) is located below the valve seat () of the nozzle needle (-) in the direction of the longitudinal axis ().
